SpringHill Suites The Dunes On Monterey Bay - Featured Reviews (775)
Best price in the location for the room size we needed (suite). The hotel itself is beautiful, very new and updated, roof top area to hang out and watch sunsets, etc. Weekend breakfast was amazing but the weekday one was a little disappointing. Just a large difference in offerings, but good overall. Staff is amazing as well. Just a very nice place to stay overall and a great value for Monterey. Thanks!
The front desk staff was very nice and the location was great for easy travel to Monterey and Carmel. However the hotel itself is just okay. The roof is talked about like it is a great place to see everything and hang out. It is not, just a roof with solar panels. We had two rooms for our family. We were there for four nights, our showers in both rooms were not working for 2 nights and for all four in the parents room. We went down multiple times to have this corrected and NOTHING was done. They gave us points. But after a day on the water, I really wanted a shower! If in the area again will look for a different hotel.
i rushed down to breakfast ready to write up my 5 star review until i was told at 855am that breakfast had ended and i couldn't get anything hot since it was all cleaned up. "we getting ready to close in 2 minutes" was the explanation.
first issue, you don't clean up until closing time or after, but not before.
second issue, 9 is too early for breakfast to end.
i managed to get some oats and yogurt so I didn't go completely hungry.
otherwise, my stay like i said was going to be 5 stars.
minor issue with the shower in the pool area, looks like it could use some repairing and hard to get cold water out.
loved, absolutely loved the fitness room for the sake of the weight machine which so many exercises can be done with. every hotel should invest in one of these machines.
the sunset view from the fitness and pool area was the best I've ever seen.
this hotel is newer so it's very clean and well maintained. our rooms were spacious with a living room and work station. there's a shopping center visible and just down the way from the hotel and it doesn't impede the ocean view.
you've got a nearly perfect thing going here except for the breakfast issue.
thank you and I'll give this place another try.
o yea, fireplace with cushioned seats in the outdoor sitting area, another big plus.
also, please add signs directing to ice machines.
We enjoyed our visit and our toddler really liked the roof top area. Went up every night.
Rooms were clean and comfortable. Breakfast was acceptable and crowded. The indoor pool was seldom used by others so we liked having it to ourselves.
Good location with near by shopping and restaurants.
All of the employees we dealt with were very kind. The rooms are nice and the breakfast is awesome! We liked the location, 10-20 minutes away from anything we wanted to do in Monterey. BIG ASTERISK. This hotel has serious issues with the elevator. We were stuck for 15 minutes, and it would have been at least 10 more if we had waited for maintenance. We forced the door open ourselves, but it’s a serious accessibility issue. The help button doesn’t work and you have almost no phone service. I attempted to call 911 and was disconnected. We ran into other guests who had gotten stuck in the other elevator and the reviews show several other guests trapped in the past weeks. The manager offered no explanation and hardly an apology.
Sometimes you know at check in what your stay is going to be like. Everyone at this Marriott property cares about hospitality and their guests. We had a full day of travel coming off of only 2 hours of sleep. Couldn’t wait to get a cup of coffee when we arrived. It was mid afternoon, so not surprising the coffee wasn’t piping yet. I asked if there was any fresh coffee and the young hotel guest service specialist, Vanecia (spelling?) put a fresh pot on and when it was done, brought it over to me where I was sitting. That’s above and beyond! ||This hotel is beautiful, the rooms are modern and updated. The breakfast was FANTASTIC! We even had fresh cut up fruit one morning (blueberries, strawberries, cantaloupe and grapes). Very rarely see fresh fruit at a complimentary hotel breakfast. Also impressed by gluten free bread being offered as well as a variety of milks (something for everyone).||The roof top deck was a very well thought out addition to this lovely property. The furniture is beautiful and the view of the ocean from the room is stunning.||Would absolutely stay here again!
Located near the intersection of 2nd Avenue and 10th Street in Marina, California, the SpringHill Suites by Marriott The Dunes on Monterey Bay is part of Marriott’s chain of contemporary extended-stay hotels (if you’re familiar with Hilton’s Home2Suites, it’s a similar type of property). My wife and I stayed three nights here during late February 2024, and it proved to be a convenient hub for our visits to both Monterey and Pinnacles National Park. The hotel is also adjacent to a large center with multiple shopping and dining options.||Our suite (room 128) had a very modern feel, and was clean, attractive and roomy enough, with a comfortable king bed and a decent-sized bathroom. It had a spacious work station with enough outlets to charge our multiple electronic devices. What was interesting was the suite layout, which was very long with no walls, eliminating the walls and doorways you find in Marriott’s other all-suite properties like the Residence Inn. It was fine for a couple like us, but the lack of privacy might make it more awkward for families. That said, there were quite a few families there during our stay||Our biggest issue with the suite was that the shower door leaked, resulting in the bathmat becoming absolutely soaked after each use. Otherwise, everything in the suite (lights, plumbing, AC, wireless Internet, etc.) worked as it was supposed to. I was especially pleased that the room had a Smart TV, which enabled us to directly access streaming services such as Netflix and YouTube.||The common areas were clean and in very good condition. Both check-in and check-out were friendly and efficient. The breakfast area was large and had a good deal of seating. The complimentary breakfast featured a number of hot items such as scrambled eggs, potatoes, breakfast meats, waffles and oatmeal.||All-in-all, we had a pleasant stay at the SpringHill Suites by Marriott The Dunes on Monterey Bay and can recommend it to our fellow travelers.
Great stay, very close to the beach (Google maps doesn't have all of the surrounding roads loaded into its system yet, so the beach is closer than what it says). Staff was friendly and accommodating. Rooms were clean and comfortable. The workout room was small but the equipment was new, which was nice. And the rooftop space was simple but nice. The only small complaint is there weren't many options for breakfast, but it was definitely better than just muffins and bananas.
We have visited here many times. However, this is our first time back since the pandemic. We would have returned earlier. However, the prices have almost doubled. What once was somewhat expensive ($400/night on a weekend) for an Ocean Front Jr. S
We went on Saturday, December 16, 2023. A rare opportunity and a new way to enjoy the coastal views! We saw a local news story and checked it out because locals usually don't do tourist stuff. Electric assist pedaling was super easy and staff very n

We are in state for Thanksgiving. There was a lull day and my wife and I wanted to see a west coast sunset.
Highly recommend this location
