Spring Mill Bread Company - Bakery and Cake Shop in Takoma Park - 7300 Carroll Ave, USA

What a delight to stumble across this gem in the heart of historic Takoma Park Junction! My best friend and I finished shopping at the Co-op across the street and wanted a bite to eat. We were unfamiliar with the area as we live in DC and took a short stroll the historic storefronts to see what we could find. Spring Mill Bread Company looked quaint and inviting, with bright red tables and chairs for enjoying their food outside. Inside , we saw a wall of bread, brick walls and beautiful water color art decorating the walls. There was a couch and antique coffee table made from an old wagon. Displays of homemade jams and fresh baked goods including cakes and cookies lined another wall. We selected our sandwiches and were asked the type of bread we wanted them on. All of the bread is baked fresh from their kitchen in the back. We chose to eat inside in the bay window where there was an ample amount of sunlight. Soon our sandwiches were brought to us on a beautiful platter decorated with lemons. Our sandwiches were huge and required two hands to pick them up! So fresh and delicious, we felt like we were on an adventure of a lifetime. If you are ever going to Takoma Park, please be sure to stop by this amazing place.

We came for the bread and left with pastries, brownies and... And... Bread! And as expected there's even more with the jams, jellies and doggy treats. If you're driving, park a little ways away and enjoy the walk.... Takoma has a fun main Street to walk down. Great people. Great vibe.

I popped into this bakery (first time even though I live in Takoma Park) on my way home looking to purchase a birthday cake for my husband. However, I decided to choose multiple cupcakes after seeing such a beautiful assortment of them. Also, I purchased two deliciously - made sandwiches, and a honey & whole wheat loaf of bread. All I can say is the Spring Mill Bread Company is my new spot for sandwiches, baked breads, jams, and desserts!!!!! I could tell the best ingredients are used in the making of their foods! Everything tasted so fresh and felt so good going in my body! Even my husband was soooo impressed!

Obsessed with their various organic whole wheat breads and their gluten-free carrot cake (with icing). It’s hard to find those little traditional authentic bakeries, so glad this place is still around and thriving.

Great bakery options throughout the year not just for Thanksgiving, Christmas, Seder or Hanukkah. Customer service is always helpful and pleasant even when they're super busy.

The aroma of bread and savory treats hits you as soon as you walk in! There’s indoor and outdoor seating! Beautifully lit, and clean!! And staff seems cool also 🙂very cool place!! I wish I have to get more pictures. My cinnamon roll was delish :) Also, apparently they sell gluten free bread! Someone was thrilled about that this morning 😂 PS: the 7 grain bread is soooooo good!!

2 stars for the friendly employees. The food was a massive regret. Honey wheat bread was so dry it was hard to eat. The flavor was quite bitter which was a surprise for a *honey* wheat. Veggie toppings were older and dried. I expected fresh shredded carrots, fresh lettuce, etc. It really looked and tasted like an older dried out bag of mixed salad was put on top. The pickles did seem to be homemade and were the only thing that added any flavor whatsoever. It was also missing one of the ingredients I ordered. Maybe there are supply chain issues, but I’m not planning to go back anytime soon. The oatmeal chocolate chip cookie also lacked flavor. It wasn’t very sweet for a dessert, more like a granola bar. The bread and cookie were baked well but otherwise very much miss the mark. Disappointing since I have been searching for a local go-to simple lunch spot just like this. The broken and inaccurate website was the cherry on top. Whomp, whomp.

Great bread, I tried the cheddar mushroom turnover, it was really good, I loved the crust. Nice location really clean and super friendly staff, can't wait to visit again.
