Spooky Slot Canyon - Hiking area in Kanab - 669 U.S. 89, USA

A great and moderate hike down to an area with a couple of slot canyons. It can be very hot during the summer months. Carry plenty of water.

Loved this hike! We downloaded the map of the hike on All Trails which helped us out especially since there was no cell service here. They are not messing around with the sizing device. We fit through no problem but at one point in the hike I had to push myself through as my chest filled the gap. It was worth the effort to get here. Favorite hike of all time.

Beautiful, slightly technical slot. Make sure you're small enough (measuring sign at trailhead). I'm fairly small and always wonder how anyone larger manages this. Tight slot in places with tight twists and turns. Takes some figuring out in spots. Not for the claustrophobic.

Spooky is for sure. This canyon was an amazing experience! My wife and I were able to easily traverse the tight spaces and it was so cool to be immersed in the rocks in this way. We had great, cooler weather but I can imagine it being very hot in the summer. A pack is a bit of a pain to carry through the slot, but worth it if you want to hydrate!

It’s absolutely breathtaking. And I ne of the narrowest slot canyons in the world; it’s only 10 inches wide in some spots. That means if you’ve had a large lunch or are a bit thick around the middle, you’ll have difficult traversing this canyon. It might also go without saying, but if you’re in any way claustrophobic, this is not the trail for you. Down side is the 26 mile dirt road to get there, but it’s so worth it!

This is a must see! We started at Peek-a-Boo and headed right over to Spooky. Spooky is a tight and there is a nice drop with a rope half way through before it gets tight! I am 5’5 175 lbs and had inches left to squeeze through but had no issues! The loop takes about 3 hrs to complete with a few breaks on the hike back up to your vehicle!

This was very fun! You just need to make sure you go earlier in the day or else it will be too hot. Make sure you bring enough water and snacks. Make sure you always check the weather before you go on this hike because of flash floods. One more tip: watch out for rattlesnakes!

Don't attempt if claustrophobic. Beautiful canyon and very fun to shimmy through
