Spearfish Canyon State Nature Area - Park in Lead - Roughlock Falls Rd, USA

On a moto it's a near perfect ride, especially if you can avoid the traffic. If you are in a car lots of opportunities for hikes from easy to a workout.

One of the most beautiful places I've been! Incredible scenery and awesome wildlife watching! Lots of deer and especially mountain goats! A Must drive when in Western South Dakota!

Had a family get together at roughneck falls. It's a beautiful area and the falls are awesome. My cousin kids climbed all around the area. Took the path around the fall area and it was beautiful.

This area has so much to offer. The scenic drive along 14A is worth taking your time driving. Spearfish Creek and the falls that run along the creek are gurgling, rushing, crystal clear beauties. I really enjoyed just standing and watching the trout and envied being able to live in a space so beautiful.

I walked down the trail to visit Roughlock Falls. The trail is steep in places, but very manageable and fairly easy. The falls are unique -- a lower falls area through mossy rock and an upper falls. It's worth the visit!

Crystal clear water, allowing us to see many trout darting in and out of cover. Pit toilet restrooms if needed. Multiple small picnic areas with heavy duty tables mostly in the shade. Gravel road access, but the paths and trails immediately around the falls are mostly paved.

Parking lot for waterfall is shared by restaurant which was confusing at first. Short walk to falls which were pretty. Kid Friendly walk.

Roughlock falls is a nice little stop as you're making your way down Spearfish Canyon. Fairly easy trail to the lower falls. Beautiful scenery.
