Spartan Ale House - American restaurant in Aurora - 1032 Prairie St, USA

The food was good quality! We really enjoyed the Spartan Cheese Bricks - unique and flavorful. The burgers are housemade which we enjoy a lot. Service was on point, until the food arrived.

I ate at Spartan Ale House for the first time. A friend had recommended it to me. The menu was pretty big and had plenty of options. Ordering was easy. The vegetarian at the table ordered without bacon but the food arrived with bacon. My meal was as ordered. The pulled pork was pretty good. The only thing lacking was a bit of the flavor in the pork and a bit salty in the French onion soup.

3 seperate visits/reviews about a year apart _------------------------------ 1st visit Hubby had a craving for a crispy buffalo chicken sandwich. This was the only place that said they handbreaded their chicken so we chose Spartan House. We opted for the sauce on the side to ensure the crispiness of the chicken and we're not disappointed, came with fries. When my husband was not sure he would like the beer of the day (Space Dust) Alexander brought him a sample to try first. I opted for fish n chips which were light and flakey no greasy feel to it. I chose garlic parmesan fries. I did not realize how much flavoring oil was in them untill I packed my remaining food to go and dumped the fries into my to go box where I quickly pulled out my fish so it would not get soggy due to the flavoring oil at the bottom of my fry bowl. My dish also came with soup of the day which was wild mushroom. Soup had a great flavor and I will be finishing it for lunch today. Alexander gave the best service we have had since things have opened up from covid lockdown. He is a great asset to Spartan House, he was so friendly and helpful when we were trying to decide our options. Thanks for a great meal. _--------------------------------- 1-18-23 made another visit with a group of students. We were able to be seated for lunch right away which I think is great for a group of 11. Food came out in a timely matter. I ordered the fish n chips which had a great cruch to the batter...but it had an odd "toughness" to the fish which I have never really encountered before. Onion rings and burgers Ruben sandwich that the students ordered were good. 1/19/24 stopped for lunch with another group of students after a field trip. Got seated right away. Food came out in a timely matter had great flavor. They were very careful with our student who has nut allergies. Nothing but good things to say about the food and service. Thanks for being a great dependable place to grab lunch.

I had the shrimp street tacos with tater tots. Wow! Loved the mango salsa with the grilled shrimp, delicious combo. Enjoyed the slight crisp to the tortillas. We also had the perfect, savory fried pickles for an appetizer.

Today I took a friend that was visiting from Wisconsin to Spartan House for lunch. It was the best meal . She enjoyed a grouper Reuben with coleslaw, and I had a salmon grain bowl. The salmon was beautifully presented and so tasty! Only recommendation is to lower the volume of the music. It’s difficult to enjoy a conversation, when you are competing with loud music.

This was our first time here, we came in a group of 14, and the experience was TERRIBLE! She seated us down and asked for drinks, their carbonation wasn't working. So we had either lemonade or water, I got their lemonade, and it was terrible (Don't know how you mess up lemonade). I asked the waitress how we would be able to split the check, she said "Oh, we don't do that here." So, 14 people's orders had to go on a single check. I ordered the Buffalo chicken sandwich, which was just ok. I also ordered a side salad and it was garbage; I had 2 bites and tossed it to the side! And all of this was $28! All for food that tasted either just ok, but mostly flat out terrible! Our waitress was very passive aggressive. She didn't greet us once. She didn't smile once. She was constantly side-eyeing us. This waitress only added to the terrible experience. Would NOT eat here again!

Cocktails were excellent! Though long wait to receive them at our large table for 9. Loved the Angry Mule and the Meditation mule! Gluten Free bun availability made my day! But the short rib sliders were just ok. Salads and Shish KaBobs got great reviews! Avocado toast good but a spread vs fresh avocado. Everyone Happy overall. Nice servers. Nice restaurant;-)

Went here for lunch and had the BBQ pulled pork sandwich. It was tasty and included slaw and onion straws on the sandwich. Their fries are good as well. Service was excellent! The lady we had was very nice and did not rush us.
