Sou'wester Historic Lodge & Vintage Travel Trailer Resort - Hotel in Seaview - 3728 J Pl, USA

Great, one-of-a-kind spot with lots of vintage charm & kitsch! Solo van traveller that needed a spot for a few days to replace my solar inverter. Don't miss out on the private sauna w/ cold plunge experience - it has an amazing heated shower and only $15. So much to see when walking the dog - the vintage RVs are groovy, lots of beautiful landscaping and unique art. If they had laundry it would be perfect! Beach is w/in walking distance (don't try to drive on it w/out 4x4) as are many delicious dining options (Seaview Biscuit Company is a 5 start must go). It is a sleepy beach town, so things aren't always open, but that is part of the charm of this town. Long beach is walking distance as well and the main part of town (a longer walk but very doable). Great staff - even though this is a campground, when interacting with the staff it felt like I was at resort! The only negative here was privacy - there are only a few spots where you can set up yourself and the other campers definitely aren't aware of respecting your privacy, but that's what I keep a canopy around for. Be sure to set up your spot with privacy in mind.

We stayed in a cabin that slept four people facing the beach. It was very small, but clean and comfortable. This was technically a one bedroom bungalow that had queen sized beds in both the bedroom and the living room. There was a full size fridge and kitchenette and half bath. It was very close to the beach, and only a 5 minute drive to downtown. It's pet positive policies were very welcome.

Just a lovely place, and so unique! The movie trailer, the old VCR videos (and what a collection!), the SAUNA, the historic main building with its little store...I could go on and on. Took my two adult kids here. Son stayed in a trailer, daughter and I in one of the cabins. We had a little fire 🔥 in one of the provided grill pits. Such a lovely family vacation. Thanks for everything you do!

Just enough fusty funk to allow you to feel grungy- yet with a soft finish of city hipster. Mostly, this is a historical lodge run by wonderful people who have created an orphanage for all those fab caravans that can roll anymore but come here to retire. Don’t be fussy and you’ll enjoy yourself- connect with the staff and immerse yourself in the sauna, wellness trailer and tea trailer (book online one week in advance). Found amazing treasures in the thrift trailer and felt pretty! DIY camping also good option for ultimate cheapsters like myself who can’t do 100 per night.

This is a quirky pseudo camping/trailer park that has vintage campers. It’s fun but is showing its age, at least in the trailer I stayed in. Keep the vintage please but get everything restored and working please. I would stay again but now know better what I’m paying for. Used the spa area twice and THAT was great, just private enough to be naked if you want. I’d like one of my own now.

While I read some reviews on Sou'wester Lodge before we booked, mostly it appeared that the reviews were good, so we booked for a long week-end. I was especially looking forward to something different from the usual B&Bs and this place intrigued me. Advertised as "rustic" and "vintage", I must take umbrage with those descriptors. No, not rustic nor vintage, how about decrepit, in disrepair, and decaying.|Interesting enough, my partner booked us into the "Bridal Suite" which I thought was quite romantic. So, figuring that we'd at least have a very nice room, we took off. Boy, was this the worst! When we arrived the parking lot was nothing but a sea of mud. (Granted it's situated in the Pacific NW so rain is expected, but we're talking a literal SEA OF MUD!).|Once inside there was somewhat of a cozy feel to the main"living room" area, with a nice fire going, but as we walked to the check-in desk I noticed shelving lining the hallway with canned food, snacks, bags of coffee, etc., and we were told they operate on an "Honor System"... just in case you hadn't had your fill of Spaghetti-O's for the week. (Ugh!)|So, schlepping our luggage up a dark narrow stairway, our room was at the top of the stairs. I gasped as we walked in, noting the cracked and broken linoleum floors, the less-than-clean-looking kitchenette, and a "living area" that was fit for anything but living. And then I saw the bathroom. About the size of a small closet, it appeared the toilet was added into the corner as an afterthought and the lighting consisted of a string cord in the middle of the "closet" that lit one dim bulb. No tub, which I swear I saw on line for the room, and the shower had a pathetic old-style shower head that looked like it hadn't been de-calcified since the 1950's. I didn't even want to get under that thing, especially with a "vintage" shower curtain that allowed the water to go everywhere except on your body.|But the final straw was the bed. The mattress was so old and worn that it sunk about a foot in the middle and you literally had to have assistance in rolling your body over the lump on both sides to extricate yourself. The worst night's sleep ever!|And I haven't even mentioned the view from our room, which was a sea of decaying and broken down trailers and RV's, a virtual old trailer graveyard. Hideous.|Even if you were up for "roughing it" I wouldn't recommend this place. It has obviously seen better days, but those days are long gone. Trust me, find yourself another hotel or just pitch a tent, either way it would be better than staying here.

This is a must stop on your coastal trip. I will definitely be back! Cute little motorhome/camper hotel, nice and quiet. You can check out vinyls and a player!

An amazing portal into a vintage wonderland complete with pay phones, record players, VHS and more quirky elements like a vintage thrift store inside a camper, and a geodesic dome full of plants. You don’t want to miss the Finnish Sauna and sunsets on the beach. Found a few treasures at the Thrifty Trailer too. I love what Sou’wester is doing and I’ll definitely be back.
