Southtown Bar & Restaurant - American restaurant in Waterloo - 2026 Bopp St, USA

We were in Waterloo for an appointment and I googled "best tenderloin in Waterloo" and found Southtown restaurant and bar. The tenderloin is breaded in house and really good could have used a little bit more seasoning (like most in Iowa) but a really tasty sandwich. The onion rings are homemade and phenomenal! Wife was happy with the cod dinner she got too. We got a couple pieces of pecan pie to bring home. They were delicious. Beer selection was kinda limited (another Iowa thing.) Looking forward to going back and trying some of the other things on the menu.

A welcoming environment & a hidden gem! The staff were friendly, the service was excellent and the food was delicious! Perfect location - close to the nearby hotels, the water park & the new amusement park. We will definitely return!

Best broasted chicken in the area. Baskets of homemade onion rings and a mixed basket of onion rings, deep fried pickles, homemade chips, mushrooms, corn dogs, and mozzarella sticks. Great sandwiches and drinks. Family favorite place for years

In town for work. Easy walk from the hotel I was at. Old school establishment that I enjoyed. Wonderful staff and the chicken was delicious. Would recommend.

We go out to eat every Thursday with a group of friends to different places and what a gem Southtown is! Loved our wait staff, good selection of beers, clean, fabulous onion rings (best I've had in Iowa) and fried pickles! The food was great. Will definately go back!

Had the Cod dinner with great potato sald,and the Cottage Cheese was spot on(I am a snob when it comes to Cottage Cheese)...nice and quiet spot for lunch and spacious booths. The Onion Rings are phenomenal,with great service!!!

Absolutely love this place! The food is good, the staff is friendly, and the atmosphere is something you can only find in iowa:) We highly recommend Southtown

We were passing thru on vacation and stayed across the street and the hotel front desk recommended Southtown Bar & Restaurant. Food was very good and service was great. Ordered a bourbon from the bar and got a nice heavy pour.
