Beautiful cultural center with outstanding displays, very informative and unbiased. It tells our history as a nation which is needed, the good with the bad. We cannot grow unless we understand our impact on others and this museum does a very good job of showing not only the history of the nation but the Ute people. Congratulations to the Staff, Sage for her stories and Susan Cimburek for a job well done. I had to include the eagle from the Justice Center next door.
Small, but very memorable place! The permanent exhibition was so well done, we were very impressed! Very interactive with bite size information on lots of different areas of Southern Ute life. Stop by if you’re in the area!!
No idea if it’s good, they don’t have any hours posted so I showed up and they were closed. Here’s their hours:
This place is amazing open to the public 7 days a week and it's a free museum. Good for all ages. The center has more interactive displays then any museum I have been too. We were even given a going away gift of stickers, cards to mail of tribal art work and stamps. You must check this place out
Great place to visit to understand the history of the Ute people! The gift shop is also filled with lots of awesome Native American Art work that you would have to travel far to get. Definitively coming back for one of there events!
A beautifully arranged cultural museum that really gives visitors a sense of the tribe's history, values, and language while emphasizing the importance of....and the challenges of..... self-preservation in the modern world. I came away with a deep respect for the Southern Ute and was really impressed with the museum. Admission is free, just make whatever donation you can. It's a great place for kids, too, and they have several children's activities. There is a small gift shop with lots of locally made beaded jewelry and smaller items, as well as a library, though we did not go in it.
Very informative exhibition / learning about the Ute people, the culture, suffering, and rebuilding during the colonization history in Colorado area. Also the staff is very friendly! I would highly recommend spend another half day here if you went to Mesa Verde National Park or Pagosa Springs.
Well done museum with informative displays and art work.
