For being the very first indoor mall...in the entire country...Southdale sure leaves a lot to be desired. I am at this mall very frequently and have watched it slowly, but surely, continue to decline. There are many vacant storefronts, even some totally vacant hallways...with all former shops shuttered up. The stores they do have just play location-rotation and move from one spot in the mall to another, in hopes of drawing more business, I suppose? I am very eager for the Kowalski's Market to finally open. That will be a much-needed addition. Another plus here is the combined DMV and Hennepin County Services Center. It's very convenient for folks, like me, who are here often. The food court [this term is a stretch for this location] is extremely meager. There are just a small handful of restaurants and some seem to pick and choose when to be open, despite posted operating hours stating otherwise. The entire north end of the mall was converted into a massive Lifetime Fitness. This is okay. If you have the open space, use that before building new. I think what irks me the most though is, the constantly malfunctioning elevators and escalators. When I tell you that you will NEVER enter this mall and find all transportation options in working order at the same time...believe me! The photo of the out of service escalator I included is from today and has been out of service for...at least...four months. [This is a typical time frame for both the elevators and escalators when they go down.] The 'caution' banner has been up since at least this past Monday, it is Friday today and no work has been done on it in between. Other than this escalator, another one on the main south entrance side of the mall is once again down and has been down for close to a month this time. They put the little caution barrier over it to prevent people from walking down it. We still do though because, the next closest place to get down is in Macy's or much further down the mall corridor. This escalator area does not have stairs as another option either. When the passenger elevators actually do work, the freight elevators are down. When the freight elevators are working, the passenger elevators are down. It's a never-ending cycle. You literally can't make this stuff up. If I had any type of mobility issues, trying to navigate this mall would be a nightmare for me. Simon Malls should do better, they are a huge corporation that can easily afford to actually repair these recurring issues. Instead, they just keep putting on Band-Aids. Sad.

The mall is so calm, making for a great shopping experience. Do Not Eat at DAVE AND BUSTERS! Way overpriced and the food has zero flavor. Small portions for a large price. The kids pizza was so small I thought I was being PUNK'D, as was the entree sized pasta meals. I love the games and energy outside of being hungry at D &Bs. I literally said the word Disgusting to my service staff and she Completely understood. Keya was the saving grace.

Boring as hell but very clean 🧽 and safe. That’s what you get from Edina! It’s mostly empty but there is some kind of trend some days are busy. Definitely the holidays are busy. It’s a Simon mall so rents are expensive so prices are higher than usual.

Great mall! I came here with a friend without anything in mind and I came out with multiple items. There are plenty of relevant stores and lots to choose from. You can even come here for specialty items such as prom dresses and luxury furniture. I recommend this mall if you like to mall walk as well because it’s huge and clean. Come and see for yourself! You won’t be disappointed.

I enjoyed my experience. The environment was so friendly, courteous... even staff that wasn't assigned to our table. They all seemed like happy employees who were happy to work there. Very positive, fast-paced atmosphere. Now, the food! So good! I had the Thai chicken and rice meal, my daughter had a Cajun chicken meal, my son the spaghetti we all tried each others dishes. Spaghetti was meh, and I paid way more for cheesecake than I expected (They are the Cheesecake Factory, though, so....) I thought the slices would be bigger. Cheesecake with strawberries was $12 or $13 (the prices aren't on the menu) can go up to $15. I'm definitely going back.

Hoping for a revival. This mall has history, a great location, a nice atmosphere, but hardly any shoppers! Thus, I’ve noticed quite a few stores have closed. Quite sad. It is well cared for, looks visually appealing, and we enjoyed shopping there.

Convenient parking in a ramp which allowed quick access to the store we visited. Definitely lots of updates inside but the number of people in the mall was pretty low for pre-Christmas shopping.

Lavish Beauty is THE place to get all your hair & nail needs met! I was heading to Prague & they actually designed my nails with the Czech flag. How impressive! Special orders don't upset them & they are some of the nicest folks you'll ever meet! Also, their prices can't be beat!

One of my favorite places to shop year round. However, the Galleria is at its best during the holidays. The decorations are amazing and quite festive. I love the classic uniqueness which always brings back childhood memories of what shopping was like
