South Table Mountain Peak - Hiking area in Golden - Golden Summit Trail, USA

The quick loop didn't take long, maybe 30 minutes. Excellent views of Golden and a little of Denver too. Some steep parts and some loose gravel so just be aware but difficulty is low to moderate as we had to take a few very high steps up on the way to the top.

Really beautiful view of Golden after the initial uphill it is pretty much flat

Edit; 3/12/23 There are a couple of different ways to go up and down depending on how fit you feel. Fantastic views and very, very peaceful. A great hike and views, never busy when I go in the weekday

Fun fact - a funicular running up the south side used to bring riders to a dance hall and casino both are long since gone. Not fun fact the KKK used to hold meetings in the same location. The scar is still visible on the hillside but the funicular cars & rails were pulled for metal during WWI. Trails is mostly switchbacks up to the Mesatop then easy walk to Tabletop.

Easy nature walk on top. If you hike up it can be a little steep but it's a short climb to the top. You can also drive up!

The trails on South Table Mtn as shown on Google maps are mostly incorrect as many have been permanently closed by the City of Golden. Attached photo shows the actual trails.

One of my favorite places to hike and mt bike. Easy to find great views from Golden, Applewood, Lakewood, the mountains, and Denver.

Great place for a quick run or easy hike!
