The resort is nice. Cottage-ie. Many families have been going here for years. The new owner has made some nice updates. Private and public beaches are nice features. Great place to relax and enjoy not having an agenda. Close to Michigan adventure and only about 15 minutes from lake Michigan.

Coming up on a year...That I held my Husband's Memorial Service here...It was beyond words the magic this place brought to a very Special Day I know that hubby was surly smiling down on us..Mary Tobin had this place Shining with her always special touches...Our family felt blessed to have such a beautiful place to share Ed's life and memories of him with friends. The service was held in the lodge guest speaker was at the fireplace and family and friends gathered around, the place was full it was awesome to see so many..they were up on the stairway looking down once all our seating was full.. and it was beautiful to see such a turnout. Amazing is all I can say!! Then we moved to the Sandpiper for some pretty awesome music, luncheon and Memory Video playing..Ended the evening with an outdoor fire and some spectacular over sized sparklers as we toasted and shared memories And of course Eds play list playing in the background. When all was done our out of town guest stayed in the lodge and occupied the cabins... Thank you Mary Tobin from me and my 150 guest that had nothing but wonderful things to say about your beautiful place and all that you do. Much Love from us all...

ALL GOOD REVIEWS ARE WRITTEN DURING PREVIOUS OWNERSHIP- ANYONE RENTING THIS PROPERTY SHOULD READ CURRENT REVIEWS. our family has been coming here for 16 years in a row- 50 of us. in addition, our grandma and grandpa took all 9 siblings here 50 years ago. this place has been in our family for nearly 80 years. it is heartbreaking to me that the new owner has ruined that tradition. at this point, we are all just hoping her dangerously intoxicated and manic tendencies end with her being forced to sell this property to a sane, safe and stable person, so we can all continue to make priceless memories with our families. all of the other reviews are true- construction was not done. my mom called her numerous times before our stay to confirm what we will need because she heard through the google reviews that construction was not finished. she told us she was overwhelmed, intoxicated and needed to sell. we had no idea what we were getting into, and she wouldn’t tell my mom any details to prepare us. there were no instructions, nowhere to put trash. she told us the boat was free of charge- then backstabbed and wouldn’t surrender my aunts forgotten kindle until we paid for the boat. this lady is unstable, she will most definitely self destruct and lose this property- is my opinion. then we can all get back to having our simple, drama free family vacations like we did when she wasn’t the owner. it is also the opinion of all the locals there. small towns talk, and no one will work for her anymore- that’s why she hasn’t gotten any of the rennovations done. we would have never complained, never written bad reviews, if she didn’t harass us after our stay. we simply just wanted a place to make memories with our family. having no coverings for the windows, no towel hooks, doors installed upside down, unfinished renovation projects everywhere to be seen- we would have been fine if she didn’t harass us after. this woman is unprofessional, unstable and dangerous. she will indefinitely implode on herself, and anyone around. that’s why all locals are staying away, and no one will work for her/with her. RIP to 80 years of family memories. praying south shore lodge gets a new owner!

Great cabins. There is a beach and plenty of equipment for kayaking. You can grill play basketball.

This place reminds me of a place I used to go to as a kid every Summer with my family. I brought my family here this weekend to end our Summer doing something fun. The prices are very reasonable. I love the cabins, the beach, the signs all over the resort, and all the vintage nicknaks everywhere. The new owner Mary is amazing! She made sure our cabin was clean and fully stocked with everything we needed including brand new sheets, pillows, towels, etc. I can't wait to come back here. Hoping we get good snow down here this Winter so I can do some snowmobile riding and book this place again. A little slice of peace and tranquility and a great place to bring your family or a weekend getaway with your significant other. I can't recommend this place enough.

There is a new owner. Unfortunately, our cabin was under construction and not finished when we arrived. Biggest issue, there were no curtains in the whole cabin including the bathroom and bedrooms!! We had a nice view of several neighbors’ houses and a public street from the bathroom window. And there was no doorknob on the bathroom door either. We arrived on Sunday and didn't have a working stove until Wednesday when we asked them to hook it up. Meanwhile the old stove was still sitting in our cabin. No TV, no microwave, very poor internet. (There was a hookup for a Wi-Fi AP in our cabin, but nothing was installed). We weren't offered a discount or anything and were told we could have left if we wanted to. (Not very practical after taking a week off work and our large group renting 4 of the cabins) But I imagine the cabin should be great once construction is finished. (What was finished of the remodel was nice. There were new mattresses, new AC, the kitchen was almost finished, and the bathroom should be nice when completed) The grounds are still very nice. A great beach with a nice dock. Lots of toys for children. Several new kayaks were purchased. The garage with the ping pong table and foosball was closed during our stay.

When we arrived at our cabin it was not finished. The owner Mary Tobin had been renovating and neglected to contact us and let us know that renovations were not complete. There was no door knob on the bathroom door, no outlet covers on the light switches or plugs in the bathroom, there was a live wire exposed in the bathroom, no window coverings including in the bathroom and bedrooms, no dining room chairs to sit at the table, the TV was sitting on a square cubby hanging off on both sides and leaning against the wall, the wifi did not work, and no microwave. After driving almost 3 hrs with three small children and it being a holiday weekend when we stayed there were no other accommodations available for the time we were staying. We improvised as much as we could to make it safe until Mary arrived the next day. She went and bought curtains and rods, a door knob, the outlet covers, and a microwave. My husband had to install all of the things himself in order for it to get done. The electrician did not come until Thursday to cover the exposed wire up. Mary told us she was going to bring a grill Monday and never did. She also never brought the dining room chairs so we had to eat on the floor or outside at the picnic table. I put a deposit down when reserving the cabin. There was never any communication about when the remaining balance was to be paid. Due to all of the issues and my husband basically having to work on our vacation I assumed there would be some kind of discount. Mary texted me on our way home saying "we didn't square up on rental costs." I told her taking everything into consideration let me know the balance and I would pay it. She refused to give us a discount and accused us of trying to skip out on paying her. I assured her I was going to pay and she let me know when she wanted payment by. Then she continued harassing me texting me repeatedly "pay your debt" over and over again and texting crazy things. She also texted my husband saying she had pictures of our family enjoying our vacation. She was very unprofessional, rude, and disrespectful. For the record Mary did receive the full payment she expected although it was undeserved. The location is awesome and there were kayaks and children's beach toys available. It is also within walking distance of Twin Lakes County park. You are only 10 minute drive from Michigan's Adventure as well. The kids had a wonderful time on the lake. I would never return though due to the owner Mary being unhinged and her interactions with me after we left.

Used to love this place with Jeff as the owner. Mary took over …made lots Of upgrades which we appreciated. But after we left, she became belligerent and accusatory. We will not be returning. We have found a new place to make our family memories.
