amazing property, but still very limited with options since everything is being rebuilt. Will be spectacular in the near future, especially when all the amenities are open/available. The apartment units at the front of the property are great, but you can hear everything in the hallways. and presently, the food options are only food trucks, which were not very good. If you have a kitchen in your unit, take food and it will make everything a bit more enjoyable.

This resort used to be my paradise. It was a quiet place to relax and be at one with nature, while still enjoying luxury accommodations and amenities. Families have returned to this paradise year after year for several generations. ||||Captiva has been damaged by Hurricane Ian, but it is recovering nicely. I'm not sure the same can be said about the damage created by the new ownership, Timbers. They have convinced Lee County to drop the density requirements that have existed on Captiva and Sanibel Islands for decades. This change only applies to South Seas Island Resort. All other businesses on Captiva and Sanibel Islands are still required to honor the decades-old restrictions of density. Timbers currently has plans to put additional hotel rooms and condos in every available nook and cranny of the resort. They plan amenities that are more conducive to Orlando than Captiva. Their management is horrible. I am at the resort now and have never been treated as rudely as I have by resort staff anywhere else in the world. This is not the same beautiful resort it has been for the past several decades.

We have spent the last couple of weeks at South Seas Island Resort on Captiva Island and it feels like paradise without the crowds. The beach and Gulf have been glorious. We are so happy to see the island coming back more beautiful than ever since hurricane Ian. We are staying in Beach Villa 2312 which is rented thru South Seas Island Resort. The villa is completely renovated in a beautiful coastal serene style that allows the spectacular view of the gulf to be the star. The villa is one bedroom and one bath with a spacious living room and open well equipped kitchen. The bedroom has a king size bed with a top of the line mattress and living room has a couch that opens to a very comfortable queen size bed. We eat all of our meals on the wonderful lanai unless we are going out to one of the many terrific restaurants that are now open. There are newly renovated pools on each side of the building, also with beautiful views of the Gulf. We have been visiting South Seas Island Resort for over 50 years and this is our best location yet as we have unobstructed views of the gulf and do not hear the sounds (Marco Polo) from either pool even though they are only footsteps away. We are overjoyed to see that all the birds have returned and that the dolphins are jumping and seem to be loving it here as much as we do!

Very friendly staff. Beautiful setting. Amazing to see the recovery from Hurricane Ian. The pool complex has been completely renovated. Exciting things to come here. A quick ride to Sanibel. We’re going back!

I am giving 5 stars due to the marina staff as well as check in manager, bellman, shuttle driver and gate check dude. This resort is currently a diamond in the rough from the storm damage and the south seas team is in full swing to get more units up and running. The pools were very relaxing, our room accommodation were very nice, clean and updated. The gas grills and gardens are very nice. The marina is open and the sunset beach is peaceful. Rent a golf cart to get to town for lots of restaurants and shopping. We will be back and look forward to the progress.

Nice job getting the county commissioners in your pocket to approve tripling room density under the guise of resiliency. And even nicer that you want to eliminate worker housing for more hotel rooms. Good luck finding staff willing to drive two hours to clean your planned 7 story luxury hotel rooms for $15 an hour. Until then may your "resort" be infested with a few billion bedbugs and fire ants. Just visited. Was a wonderful short visit. They are close to reopening more of the resort, saw lots of painting, grill installation, elevator work, last minute type stuff. My complaint was more with our particular condo, and I guess this is the problem when you rent units on behalf of the condo owner. Everything in the unit was new, but it’s obvious it was done as cheaply as possible. The master bathroom shower was just ridiculous, especially when you consider this unit usually rents for $500-$600 a night. Instead of doing a modern walk in shower, they installed a tub with a sliding glass shower door. Not a complete door, just 1 panel, so half the shower was open. And the door was small, so anyone over 5’5 has to duck to avoid hitting your head as you get in and out. The water was luke warm at best. Felt more like Red Roof Inn than a luxury resort. We’ve been to SS before, so I know this isn’t necessarily representative of the entire resort, but whoever owns this unit is a cheapskate. The restaurants being closed forced us into food options that we would have never considered before. We ate dinner at the Doc Fords on Sanibel and breakfast at RC Otters and the ‘Tween Waters Inn. The food at ‘Tween Waters was exceptional. The Bubble Room is still closed, and appears to just be sitting there boarded up.

Staff has been amazing. Though they are still recovering from hurricane Ian, they are very accommodating. Gift bag of wine, pasta and sauce made for a great dinner and the s'mores kit was a great idea. Chairs and umbrellas along sunset beach with a food truck was very nice. RC Otters is our favorite place to eat, breakfast or dinner. And the shelling is awesome!

Great place for a beach getaway. We stayed at #12 (Loveshack). It is small but was perfect for us. It has a good size refrigerator inside and a nice patio-next time we'll bring our portable grill! It is also situated at the very back of the drive
