This was my first time hiking EVER and I enjoyed myself so much I’m doing it every week now. It was so relaxing and an awesome experience I will never forget. A few hikers and geologists were out there that I called my guardian angel. I felt so at peace out in nature and ALLLLL hikers are hospital meek mild and kind extensively. Andy and Daniel were the best and I enjoyed every waking moment. They turned me into a potential hiker cause I want this to be incorporated in my day to day lifestyle. The trails were about an 1:30 to get to the beautiful scenery of the rocks and overview, but if you stopped like I did multiple times to rest and take pictures it may take a regular hiker an hour to get to the top. My husband and I enjoyed every moment and we even got a full list of other cool hiking locations in the dmv so CANT WAIT super excited. Next time I’ll take my daughter with me to get her used to hiking as well. We also drank cold fresh spring water from the ground I like to call Maryland’ best kept secret. Awesome place to camp and did I mention the hikers are sooooooo friendly it’s surreal it’s as if they all have this NAMASTE ambience that’s infectious and worth being outdoors for. Anyway enough about me get your butt down there you won’t regret it 😉
I took the Appalachian trail to Annapolis rocks and it was amazing. It’s a 2.5 mile ( 5 Miles round trip ) and its a very easy hike except initial elevation. I will be coming back to this soon!
Lovely park. We chose to do the short Annapolis Rock hike during the 'peak' foliage weekend and it definitely did not disappoint. Beautiful outlook from Annapolis Rock, not to mention, it is a pretty neat cliff itself. Spacious trails and unexpectedly not crowded, as opposed to the neighboring Cunningham Falls. We arrived around 10am on a Saturday, and parked on the street adjacent to the small (and fully occupied) lot. 10/10 would do this again!
We did one of the shorter trails, just 5 miles full trip. And it was definitely worth it. The view from the top, over the cliffs is absolutely gorgeous. I highly recommend the 'Annapolis Rock' trail, you won't regret it.
Great set of trails and camp sites. With a ton of paths trickling through the entire park. Good amount of small streams and water ways. Not a ton of bugs and a lot of different access points. Also nice elevation and views at the top. Great spot for kids, animals, and the more intrepid explorers.
I hiked Thurston Griggs trail starting on white oak Road in smithsburg. This was an amazing trail, beautiful, but very steep and rocky. It's ranked as an Easy trail on a lot of websites but I beg to differ. It's easy once you reach the white blaze trail (Appalachian section) but that's about 2 miles in. Took me about an hour up the trail and then 35 minutes going back down. If you're looking for a longer hike, there is a shelter and camp area along the white blaze here.
Our Pathfinder group took a walk up a mountain to see the view from Black Rock. Beautiful view. Our director took his son up there for the first time. Wore us out, but vista was breathtaking.
The most serene day in a long time... Beautiful trails so tranquil and nice..Spent the day with my wife michelle and pitbull.HAD A BLAST......

Great little park with a dam water fall. Up stream from the dam is about a mile of calm creek you can boat on and a place across the street you can rent a boat or go on longer river trips. They have added some swings that are really cool
We were married here 20 years ago, then celebrated our 20th anniversary here recently. Had not visited at all in those 20 years, but the charm & hospitality remained! Beautiful historic building. We sat in the sunroom, which is where our wedding rec
