South Holston River Lodge - Resort hotel in Bristol - 1509 Bullock Hollow Rd, USA

This was my 10th trip to SHRL and the experience never disappoints. However, depending upon the time of year, the experience is always different and unique. This time, end of October, had low water flows which made the normal "float all day down the river" impossible, however the guides have perfected the art of targeting big fish in slower water. ||The lodging is remarkably unchanged from my first trip many years ago, with the exception of bathroom updates in the Mayfly cabin. Overall, the accommodations are cozy and comfortable, and the atmosphere is the ultimate in relaxation. After 8 hours on the river, a hot shower, some apps followed by dinner, and I've never slept so well. ||The staff, led by GM Jon Hooper, is attentive to every detail. And while they cannot guarantee an epic day of fishing, they do their absolute best to make the experience as close to perfect as they can.

Had amazing 3 days on the river. Andrew and Brandon never disappoint. The guides go out of their way to make sure you have a great time and put you in the best position to catch fish. First class and highly recommended!

Great food and very comfortable beds and one of the most beautiful areas to fish that I've been to and the staff and my guide were the best. My guide was Braydon Wilhoit and I would highly recommend him to anyone to fish the river.

Awesome experience from the novice fisherman to experienced angler. Guides are helpful, knowledgeable and enjoyable to be around. The people are extraordinarily friendly and helpful. If you are looking for a get away with friends, family or work colleagues, you will not be disappointed.

There is no question why this lodge is constantly rated 5 stars! From the moment you arrive until the moment you depart, you are treated exceptionally! Every staff member makes a huge effort to provide everything needed to make your stay special - including being able to call you by name! The meals are fantastic! The accommodations are unique and very comfortable. The guides are all exceptional - they stay in contact with each other and share what is working or not. We have experienced the SHRL several years in a row - we always make reservations for our next stay before leaving! Jon Hooper is outstanding and strives to make your experience the best.

It is always a great time at SHRL! This fishing is always great or mostly, but the people are what make the trip. The nicest and most attentive hospitality that I have found. We fish a new section of the Watauga and it was beautiful. Cant wait to go back. Thanks Jon and gang

This is the eighth year we've stayed, and it keeps getting better! They really work to ensure everyone has a great time. Cabin was excellent, clean and fully stocked with beer and wine, the meals were excellent as always. Ron really knows how to prepare excellent food. Staff was extremely attentive to requests. We used Andrew as a guide and had a great time on the water, his knowledge and expertise made the days fun and fast moving. We've already booked another trip for next May and Sept.

Top to bottom amazing fly fishing trip with South Holston River Lodge! From the staff at the lodge, good food, and great fishing (and catching) with the best guide Sam it exceeded all expectations.
