I have dined here a few times and the last time I reviewed it was a few trips ago on Yelp. Overall it’s a pleasant dining experience, casual dress. I enjoy that it’s nice and quiet but if you’re not a fan of the long bench seating on one side of the table then u could be disappointed. I always go off peak hours because I don’t want to sit next to strangers on a bench seat. The service can be hit or miss, but never bad service. Saturday we had good service but had to remind the server to bring cutlery. The food is very good but in my opinion of your going here for sushi, maybe try and entree instead. The sake is good and they have a few Japanese whiskeys to choose from.

After reading the reviews I decided to check this place out. I called to see when happy hour was and the girl who answered the phone was super helpful with answering my questions. Happy Hour on Sunday is 3pm-6pm. When I arrived the hostess who I talked to on the phone greeted me and sat me immediately. I waited about 10 minutes before anyone came by to help me which was annoying because it wasn’t busy and I saw a few servers just standing around. Simon finally came to help me and his service was impeccable. He explained the menu and gave me suggestions. Everything I ate was delicious!! The fish was fresh and all the flavors with the sauces were incredible. The ambiance was very nice and bright. Everything looked clean and they had pretty simple decor. One of the things I was reading in the reviews is this place is pricy and it is. I ordered 4 items off the happy hour menu and one roll and dessert and it came out to $85! Plus a $14 tip total was $100. The portions were very small. I think if I had sake or something other than tea I could have easily spent well over $125 just on my own. Lastly when I left the hostess held the door open for me and asked how everything was which was super sweet of her. She definitely does a great job. I didn’t catch her name but she was very nice. Free parking Overall great place and I couldn’t go here for lunch regularly but it was a nice treat. I think they could have a better happy hour menu. The prices just seem like regular price and small portions.

I like this place. They have a really nice selection of fish. The chirashi bowl and shishito are good. However, I ordered the Nashi cocktail- when I received it, it was missing the Prosecco. When I mentioned this to the waitress, instead of just remaking the drink, she immediately blamed their “old bartender” for making drinks too full previously, and the fact that they changed their menu. It felt like she was saying I was tasting the drink wrong or something. She did top my drink off with Prosecco but I’d rather not hear a deflection when it was just a simple mistake made with the drink. Also, if I’m paying $16 for a cocktail, presentation matters. A lemon wedge is an outdated and lame garnish. I didn’t even get a photo of the drink because it looked ugly.

Popped into this Soto location around 4 pm on a Sunday before a movie. It did not disappoint! Tara was incredibly helpful! You’d be lucky to have her as a server! I tried the premium Omakase at the downtown location ($250 pp) during my first visit to Soto. At this north location I tried all the things below!

Best Japanese sushi restaurant in Austin, by far. They have a massive selection of fresh fish that changes daily. The fish options were much larger than any other sushi restaurant I’ve been to in Austin. Each item I ordered looked great and tasted amazing. I hope the photos I attached to this review show the level of care the chefs gave to each dish. I ordered the Omikase and it was incredible. The dishes kept coming and coming. Hats off to the sushi chefs.

Hands down, some of the best sushi and Japanese food in Texas. The fish is so fresh, and the menu is full of surprises from uni pasta to mussels to the maki. The service is really great too, love how they explain the menu and give you recommendations. I have to stop by every time I’m in Austin!

Some of the best sushi in town. They are in this totally unassuming strip mall near a party city. Once you walk in you would never know you are in a Cedar Park strip mall. Usually have multiple types of toro and sake to choose from. Always have creative and innovative dishes. Great for a girls night, date night, or solo lunch. Amazing value for cost. #sushi #austin

Everything was excellent! The fish is some of the best I’ve ever had! It was definitely not expected to find a place like the in Austin or Texas. They fly a lot of their fish in directly from Japan and have a changing menu of fish. Tommy was our server and he was fantastic- very knowledgeable and helpful with choices. We will definitely be back!!

I tried green chili tacos and the wake up call sandwich and I LOVE them!!! I feel so lucky to find out this place. My little doggy had a blast with good treats, too!

A gym like your favorite taco spot… grungy on the outside so you know it’ll have the best experience inside. Dropped in while passing through town, would definitely stop by again. Cool coach, friendly folks, good WOD, classic box stuff.
