We spent father's day weekend there a family of 5. The people were really nice and willing to jump and get stuff done. if you're wanting a romantic get away with the spouse this is definitely not the place, the tents and everything are really close to each other. our biggest thing was random people walking through our cabana and the proximity of the parking lot to the tents. It's a really nice place just don't think we'll stay there again unless we have a really big group and rent the majority of the place out
I booked a cabana last minute and it was so easy and quick. When we arrived, the location was so cute and relaxing. The bathrooms/showers were clean and easy to get to. We walked over to Lone Star grill for lunch. The ONLY thing my kids didn't love was how shallow and rocky this part of the river is, but they still had a great time :)
We have come here 3 years in a row and love it every time. It is so relaxing! I always recommend the table and tent in the water. Bring your snack and drinks and just chill. You can even grill out if you want. Have to give a shout out to Tyler. A person in our group daughter was having a baby at anytime and she did not have cell reception on the river so Tyler gave her his number to give to her daughter! Very nice of him to do that! We will be back next year for sure!
Decided to have a small get together for my daughter’s birthday here in a Cabana.. Worst decision ever! For starters, the river was so far from enjoyable especially to get in and out was an injury trap (which is why I assume the waivers were necessary). There was a gentleman helping everyone down and to their spot, (did not work for the place, just there with his own party) who we were so thankful for! The reservation was for 10:30a-6:30p & we ended up leaving/packing up 2 hours early due to an incident that occurred at the Cabana next to us. At around 3:30-4p a guy at the Cabana next to us (highly intoxicated) started arguing with his family & getting very loud using all types of profanity but, we decided to stick it out in hopes that maybe a monitor or SOMEONE would come and tell him to calm down or leave. By 4:15 things escalated quickly and just about all his family was holding him back so we decided to just pack up and leave because it was obvious nobody was coming and we could all see where things were going. Less than 20 min later two guys end up physically fighting and rolled into OUR cabana nearly hitting my 3 year old in the process. We told them to get out and take it back to their spot but there was no getting through to them. STILL at this time NOBODY came to check on things. Yet all the other cabanas saw, heard & were watching everything. I had my family take my daughter to the car, my mom recording, my husband watching to see the damages they make & I decided to call the only number I could find (which ended up being for reservations) & the woman told me she would be sending someone. Multiple people from other cabanas also called 911 but still took them awhile to get there. They fought in our cabana the entire time until the family let that guy go to which he walked next to a truck, pulled his pants down, and peed IN FRONT OF EVERYONE. We waited for someone from the front to show up and to my understanding they never did , until I went to the front myself and the girl up there had no idea anything was even happening! She said her manager was down there (who I didn’t even know worked for the place because he had no kind of uniform on) he literally stood there while that was happening and didn’t make any type of effort to at least get them to go back to their cabana. Mind you, I have all of this recorded. The people ended up fighting/ staying in OUR cabana until after cops arrived. I spoke to the girl up front about everything, told her if there’s any damages I should not be charged for them. I emailed as soon as I got home and asked how to file a complaint and they said to call the next day. Called the next day (Sunday) , explained everything to them & the girl had the AUDACITY to say” you didn’t have to leave , you could have stayed” HOW? WHERE? They were ALL in OUR cabana, throwing each other on tables, chairs, you name it. And basically said there was nothing she could do but for me to call AGAIN. Everything thus far has been nothing short of unprofessional on their side. All of that could have been avoided had there been some kind of hourly monitor, security or whatever. This was a total waste of money. Paid almost 450$ for quite literally the worst experience ever. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone with children , elder or honestly anyone at all!
This was our first experience at any of the "Sons" locations and unfortunately did not live up to the expectations that are advertised. Really the only saving grace for this place is the cabanas which are very roomy with plenty of furniture and provide a nice shady area. The main building is likely falling down at any moment, the entire hill underneath it is eroded by rain water; pretty sketchy. The tents are definitely in need of some help. The outdated a/c units and very old garage fans do not do much at all and our tent #A was located right next (like literally on top of) the only port-o-can on the property - - awesome. Also, if there is ANY chance of rain at all save your money. Our tent leaked, we woke up to the sheets, pillows, and mattresses soaked - had to hang them to dry in the cabana in front of us. I had to call what i think was a call center and they "contacted the property manager". They did move us to another tent, we were lucky because it was a rainy weekend and nobody else really renting anything. We were there for 2 days and I never saw one person in charge. There was a kid who drove around in the morning and changed the trash, and a young lady who swept out the tents. It was very clear that this place could be really nice if it actually had some management and they cleaned it up. There was a lot of trash on the banks - they take absolutely NO care of any of their furniture or canopies in the river. When we were there several of the canopies were just collapsed and thrown to the side. A lot of discarded lawn chairs that you can tell have been buried underwater for quite some time. They didn't even put their tubes up a night. Just left them laying around all over. The only good part about having absolutely no supervision on site was we pretty much just took over about 4 canopies and were as loud as we wanted to be...Won't be back again though.
This place is a scam I just stopped by to check it out before our weekend experience and it’s a shame no privacy a mess everywhere they make 10k a weekend here and this is what they dish out for there customers it’s a shame… then I tried to move it or get a refund and they denied both so for anyone thinking about going to this location do not. Poor customer service all the way around
I’ll start off with the good. The location is great! Booking and check in are super easy. Staff are helpful. The bathrooms are great too. The cabana that goes with your tent is really spacious as well. Plenty of furniture and lighting to enjoy your time and spread out. The river is right there too, so it really feels like you’re on vacation.
Now the bad-
The air in the glamping tents is awful. I stayed at another Sons location and the air in their glamping tents was great so I assumed this would be similar quality. Not even close.
When we got done tubing there wasn’t anywhere cool to relax- as a matter of fact the inside of the tent was hotter than the outdoor area. There were holes in our tent and the zipper at the front was broken so we had ALL the critters inside our tent as well as what looked kind of like a buildup of dirt or mold or both.
I can’t say I’d come back to Sons Guadalupe unless they upgraded the quality of their bell tents and put better air conditioning in them. I will, however, use Sons Rio Cibolo again in a heartbeat.
The company as a whole is great but their Guadalupe location for me, isn’t worth the price tag.
This place is great if you are looking for a family tent with mattresses up off the ground. It is not clamping like in the magazines with cowhide rugs and bedside lamps. It had recently rained so there was water by the door inside and the tent had not been swept out. Just a few leaves. The cabanas are nice with nice outdoor furniture, a bar, fire pit, picnic table, fan, light, and electricity. Everything is close together. 6 feet or so. We enjoy taking and sharing food with our neighbors - families with kids. Luck of the draw on who your neighbors will be. Or how loud they will be. Bathroom fine while we were there. The area is well lit so bring eye masks. There in early April - no bugs.
Went here on my birthday during the week! We stayed in the blues traveler cottage. It was quite unique inside and out. Iâll definitely be staying there again.
Nicole was working her butt off taking care of everyoneâs needs. She just has the sweet
