Sonny's BBQ - Barbecue restaurant in Clewiston - 1030 W Sugarland Hwy, USA

Enjoyed a pleasant, early dinner this evening. I drove 58 miles since this is the 2nd closest Sonny's near my house. I found the restaurant clean and friendly. The service was very friendly. Melaena showed a Southern Hospitality like I haven't seen in quite some time. I got the "Big Deal" Pulled-pork sandwich with baked beans. The sweet tea tasted great. I enjoyed my drive home.

Sonny's is a road trip favorite, especially since they closed the one near us. Today we did appetizers only because we had dessert plans and two of us still got pretty full on two apps. The corn nuggets are always a favorite and today we also got loaded tots with pulled chicken. Our waitress was warm and friendly and attentive to our needs.

It was lunch time and busy, but our wait for 2 wasn't too long. The food was good and server was attentive. The place was very dirty, dust and bugs on the blinds in the windows, smached French fry on the floor along with a range dressing lid. Restrooms were disgusting, both men and women. Before I left no paper towels in women restroom. Hoping other Sonny's restaurants aren't as dirty.

I'm just getting around to posting this even though we visited a little over a week ago. Honestly, I'd forgotten to take the time to post a review until we visited another Sonny's location in Ocala yesterday (that was outstanding and the way we expect a Sonny's to be). We have visited the Clewiston location dozens of times over the years since we live on the east coast and travel to Ft. Myers frequently. It's the perfect midway stop to grab some bbq and sweet tea. Unfortunately, there has been a significant decline over the last 2 years but we still continued to stop because we miss not having a Sonny's here in Jupiter. However, our most recent visit will be our last :( Besides the food and service being mediocre at best (I'm being kind), the place is in DESPERATE need of a deep clean. I left thinking if the bathrooms and dining room that are open to the patrons are that dirty, how does the kitchen look behind closed doors? Frightening thought. I get that following the pandemic businesses have had trouble finding help, supply chain issues, etc. but there isn't any excuse for down right dirty. Clearly, the owner doesn't visit or he/she would be cleaning it themselves or hiring a third-party if they had to.

They were super slammed when we stopped there. The hostess notice that no one took our drink order, so she went right over took it and brought it back. Then the waitress came and took our orders and topped off the refills.The brisket was phenomenal. The best I ever had. Service was outstanding and attentive. This is the best Sonny’s I’ve been to, out of the three I’ve tried

Food was great. the service was terrible. They seemed to have enough people. Had to ask for everything, silverware, more drinks. Waitress only stopped at the table when bringing something, then promptly left. Had to ask for a bill, find someone to run the register to pay the bill. Friends or family would stop in, and waitresses would stop and take to them. No organization, wasn't busy at all. Would not go to this location again.

It’s 1pm next day. I ate my food the day before at 7:40pm yesterday and my stomach still feels uncomfortable like I need to throw up. Their food was toxic and undercooked. They also forgot all the sauces I ordered for my wings and my salad. Maybe if it came with the items I already ordered, I’d be dead. Please check the quality of your food and make sure it’s cooked through fully.

Ordered food for pickup, I was told 20 to 25 minutes. I arrived about 30 minutes after I called, and the waitress said she'd check, as my order wasn't up. She disappeared to the back and never returned. Three different waitresses asked, and I said someone was helping. My order was sitting there as they asked me if I had a lemonade, which I did not. The one waitress rang up 3 different customers while my order sat there unbeknownst to me. I was there almost an hour. The original waitress never returned. They had only 4 cars in the parking lot. The corn nuggets were barely warm, but the sliced pork was good. The service was not good at all. The waitress who rang me up claimed she just brought the food out, which was not true. Love Sonny's, but not this location.
