Sonesta Essential Fairmont - Hotel in Fairmont - 20 Southland Dr, USA

Nice hotel. Stayed one night in a 2 queen bed room. Comfortable. Clean. Decent size bathroom and room large enough for suitcases. Fridge and microwave in room. Only 2 towels in room so had to ask for more. Free breakfast ok- didn’t eat the hot food it didn’t look good- but we did have the prepackaged oatmeal and blueberry muffin. Plenty of parking on all sides of building. Great price!

Upon entering, I was greeted by a wonderful duo of staff at the front desk. The more experienced worker had a trainee working with her, and they were both so very kind and considerate of us. Even when they had a few issues with the system, they would always apologize to us and thank us for waiting, WHILE, learning with each other. The room that we stayed in was very clean, well-put together, and when we needed supplies, we didn't have to wait, but 2 minutes to receive them. Also, due to the wind during this stay, the power went out the morning I had a wedding to attend. The front desk staff was swift in coming to the room to share the details about what was going on, so that we didn't have to wonder. The power outage only lasted about 10 minutes, so we were very lucky, especially since I had to use 2 electronic instruments to get ready. Finally, there were some other couples that were staying at the same hotel as us for said wedding. We all wanted to hang out with the groom the night of the wedding, so when we went down to ask the staff at the front desk if there was a conference room to use to hang out for a bit, there was 0% hesitation from the staff member. Breakfast was great as well, as the same staff member shared with us that since we are with the wedding, there will be special items for breakfast the next morning. I wasn't exactly sure what the special items were, but the breakfast was decent. Great price for staying 2 nights too! Each and every staff member at the hotel, including the housekeeping staff, was friendly as ever, and we would 1,000% stay again! :)

We just stayed the last 2 days in this motel Somesta Essential Fairmont WV. To be far they just took over the motel. So I will give them time. We stayed there when it was Microtel. It was really nice then. They need new beding. Ours was really bad. I will go back because it is clean. Breakfast was horrible not much choice. But again they just took over the property.

No opinions only experience:|1. Check-in - Clerk was nice but when gave directions to the room he said it is up the elevator, not quite sure which way to turn as I don't go to the rooms, that is the cleaning ladies job.|2. Get to room - musty smell and room very dusty. Go back to request a new room. Clerk apologies and give us a new room. He said, I would hate to give you another bad room. Gave us a key and never went along with us to inspect next room.|3. Upon entering second new room, it was in same condition as first room. The phone range immediately and it was the manager stating, I do not want you to stay in that room as it has not be inspected by me. She provided a new room.|4. The third room was a little better. The pillow fills were way too small for cases, they had them configured to where the pillow looks like an 18 x 18 pillow. Small refrigerator made a constant noise. We unplugged but not to worry, our food would be fine as there was enough frost in the frig.|5. Upon retiring to bed, I hit my ankle on a bed rail that stuck out way past the platform. Got a nice cut and it hurt like heck. |6. Upon check out I shared my incident. There were two female clerks. One exclaimed, "Oh, that has happen to me too!". They said they were sorry and they would have to get that fixed. No compensation.

Positive: Very friendly staff, nice large suite. We encountered some rough weather, called the front desk to explain our situation. The front desk manager graciously checked in and made sure everything was ready for our arrival. Negative: Our plumbing stopped working and our bathroom door had a huge crack and was beginning to come apart. The tv needed to be reset each time we wanted to watch it. Negative: ""

this hotel totally screwed us over. had reservations 4mths.in advance for football game. and found out 3 days before the reservations were canceled and no notification from hotel. if i didnt call we would have been left out in the cold. and could only deal with people who couldn't speak very clear over the phone be very cautious dealing with what is probably a foreign Invester.

Quiet, comfy beds, nice staff, good shower. Cute room, small but it is a micro hotel haha ||||Room 101 had some issues but staff was very quick to remedy the situation and our next room was perfect.

I recently stayed at Microtel By Wyndham March 1 through March 4, Fairmont, WV. I would like to start with the fact that your current staff is friendly and professional and courteous to their guests. I dealt mostly with Nick I believe and he is a very nice young man. ||||I had several issues with my stay this time despite the staffs pleasant demeanor which was the better part of the hotel stay with little else to go with it. ||||As a paying guest I expected to utilize the facilities/amenities and was unable to do so due to a movie being filmed.|||| - I was not notified of this at booking nor at check in and no alternate accommodations were made for me or other paying guests. ||||- Unable to utilize the lobby area and was told I could not stay in a 'public' area of the hotel due to said movie filming. Unable to visit with family and meet and visit with my first grandchild (3 months old).||||- Unable to obtain breakfast due to movie being filmed. ||||- Parking was not convenient due to packed parking lot. ||||- Navigation throughout hotel and parking lot were less than ideal (port-o-potties, large box trucks, movie staff vehicles, tent set up, cast and crew grilling, etc, etc, etc. ||||- Movie company allowed to 'take over' the hotel and dictate who used the facilities and when.||||- Refrigerator in room had no knob to make colder and stayed at room temp.||||- Room not clean as could be (drink bottle found under air conditioner unit)||||- No bed service/maid service throughout entire stay/trash not emptied.||||- No change of towels when left on floor as sign suggested.||||- Noise level increased due to other patrons up and down hallway/dog in next room whining at door.||||Needless to say I am not at all happy with this recent stay as I have been in the past and would loved to have made an informed decision about the matter if given the information ahead of time. ||
