My mom and I stayed one night in this hotel, and it was an all around amazing experience! We stayed in a queen room and it was the perfect size to accommodate two of us. The heated floor in the bathroom was an unexpected surprise and was my favorite part of the whole room. The bed and pillows were also very comfortable. We ate both dinner and breakfast in the restaurant downstairs, and the food was absolutely amazing both times! The location is also very close to many historical locations which was great to see. We will definitely stay here again!
Absolutely beautiful hotel! We have had dinner two times here so far and both visits have been amazing. Servers were warm, kind and knowledgeable. We loved the pizza, the sourdough crust cannot be beat! Sandwiches are also amazing with fresh Philly rolls. Truly a must visit place when you are in Philly. You will love it!
Great hotel with a lot of atmosphere. My room was nicely decorated with little touches like vinyl records and old books. The remote control toilet blew my mind. The bed was very comfortable. Checking in by phone was convenient. Best part was the restaurant. Lots of tasty menu items to choose from. Excellent espresso martinis. Warm and friendly staff. Great location in the historic part of the city with nice museums, coffee shops, and ping pong place around the corner.
Wow! Such a wonderful hotel for such a great price! The hotel is well-refurbished, with the newest AC system and even toilets. The rooms are clean and cozy. The location is perfect and allows you to fully immerse in Philadelphia historic neighborhood. The hotel is a 10/10 for fitting into the Old City ambiance and getting the most out of it. Will definitely recommend and come again!!
Incredible hotel!
The most comfortable beds I’ve experienced at a hotel — temperapedic mattresses and 6 big fluffy pillows on bed and soft comforter.
Incredible bathroom too with heated toilet seat and overhead rain shower
Great restaurant downstairs — true “crab fries” with crab meat and caviar and cheese on fries — just $5 at happy hour!! And great wood fired pizza too.
Great location at edge of old city and society hill:
Highly recommended!
My wife and I recently stayed 1 night at Society Hill Hotel while on a short trip passing through Philadelphia. The king room we stayed in was clean, bright, and very welcoming with its art deco charm. It was also more spacious than it appeared on the website, which was a pleasant surprise. The highlight of the room for us though was the bed! Not sure what the brand was, but it was incredibly comfortable and just what we needed after a long travel day. The heated bathroom floor and bidet toilet were also added. luxuries.
Be sure to have at least one meal at the attached bar/restaurant. They are known for their sourdough pizzas and oysters. Unfortunately, the building's gas line was under repair during our stay so we didn't get to taste the pizza. The oysters and accompanying cocktail sauces however did not disappoint! There was a selection of 4-5 shellfish from different parts of the east coast and Canada. Additionally, if it's available, the lobster roll is a MUST HAVE! There was great selection of cocktails, and while not on the menu, mocktails can be made at request.
The hotel is perfectly situated among the top historic sites of Old City. The Museum of the American Revolution was directly across street, with Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell just a short walk away. Separate from the historic attractions, the hotel is also a few blocks from the Museum of Illusions (great for kids and adults alike). You can also grab your morning coffee and choose from a number of tasty breakfast sandwiches at Olivier right next door.
Overall had an excellent, cozy, charming stay! Am definitely planning on staying here again! Stayed in a Queen room for one night.
Cons:
- Building is not ADA compliant. This is understandable due to the age of the building and IS noted on the FAQ page, but I think it would be nice to have that information in the room description on the Booking page as well (I could see it getting missed, and potentially upsetting future guests)
- we initially had an issue getting into the Hotel side of the building upon check in. Our code didn't let us into building (we ended up entering through the restaurant , and had to also let other guests in). The code did work on the room door, so it wasn't a huge issue 😊
- there are only 4 floors, so this isn't a huge issue but the floors weren't numbered in the stairwell. (I could see future guests complaining)
Pros:
- while the room was small, they did a GREAT job utilizing the space and the amenities in the room made it feel very polished and cozy! If you plan to stay for an extended period of time/need to work/spend time in the room I would splurge for the King room
- the staff we did interact with were SPLENDID, both through text and in the restaurant. Before heading in for the night we grabbed a seat at the bar. The cocktails we SO good, and we ended up ordering oysters. I didn't catch his name, but the gentleman who brought out the oysters and gave is the rundown was fantastic! If you're reading this, thanks again for recommending what order we should eat them in, you were very right!
- the location is amazing! You are walking distance from so many things, and the art deco inspired design fits SO well with the vibe of the building.
Cannot wait to stay again!
I very much enjoyed dinner and drinks at Society Hill Hotel tonight. Everything was delicious. I was able to catch up with my friends without feeling rushed. I loved following the renovation on Instagram and reminiscing about the times I went for drinks 20+ years ago. I will definitely be back. Thanks to our server Ian for a great evening!

First of all, the folks in this cafe are the nicest people in Philly. Second, the service is fast, friendly, and helpful. But most importantly, the food is high quality, fresh, customizable and with big portions. Love the $12 lunch special!
Great service and food at this local place. The hummus platter was delicious. Buttermilk
Chicken sandwich and fish and chips (tilapia) did not disappoint.
Nestled in the heart of Philadelphia, Cavanaugh's Rittenhouse isn't just another sports bar; it's an experience. The moment you step inside, you're greeted with an ambiance that's both warm and inviting, a testament to the establishment's dedication
We hosted a party at revolution house and I cannot recommend this place enough! Gabby and the whole RH team are so accommodating and helpful. The food is fantastic, as are the cocktails. The ambiance of restaurant is unlike many others in the city, e
My sister has been raving about this restaurant for the longest time and so I decided to sneak in on a slower evening with my little one. First we were greeted with excitement and warmth from the moment we entered the door by management. They were de
This is such a nice cozy restaurant. As soon as you walk in the staff are very friendly. We had the pleasure of having Jack be our server that night. The restaurant was packed but he made sure we had everything we needed.
Coffee here was amazing! The iced latte was great! The black coffee was something else! So fruity and aromatic - truly a great experience! Very much recommended getting their beans too!
Joined on a student membership for the summer and really enjoyed my experience. All the trainers were highly knowledgeable (and incredibly athletic) and made sure everyone felt welcome in the gym. When I was dealing with a shoulder injury, they were
