I really wanted to love it, but the food wasn’t as good as it looks. I’d say Social House 7 is the Buddakan/Tao of Pittsburgh but lower quality food & service wise. The cocktails were delicious but all tasted (and felt) like zero proof cocktails. The best part of our meal was probably the spicy edamame appetizer lol we came for our last dinner of 2023, we wanted to try a new place before hosting our NYE party and we ended up being late to our own party because the service was so slow. I’m guessing it was an off night due to the holiday but I feel like there weren’t enough people working for how many tables they were seating? No clue but we had to order two rounds of drinks at once because they took forever to come out. I will say the atmosphere is awesome though so it was still a good time. I’d come back to have drinks at the bar. Super cute!
The environment and vibes were perfect. It feels special. The service complimented that. Everyone was super kind and helpful for many of our first visit. Having worked in food service and customer relations I take note of the employees. Everyone was smiling, working hard, and actually appeared to enjoy what they were doing. To some that doesn't matter but to me it speaks volumes. The food smelled incredible and looked delicious. We waited a bit for our food but they were busy on Saturday that's expected. I ordered the Robata shrimp and it was extremely tasty. It was a not super warm but again when a restaurant is busy I come to expect that. I'll definitely be visiting again on a less busy night and maybe try some new food. Overall a great experience, service, and environment makes up for slight dip in quality of food. Thanks for a great night!
My recent experience at Social House 7 in Pittsburgh, PA, was nothing short of disappointing. Despite having high hopes for an enjoyable evening, the poor service from the bartenders, slow food service, and exorbitant prices left me with a sour taste in my mouth. Let's start with the bartenders' service, which was far from satisfactory. My friends and I waited at the bar for what felt like an eternity, a full five minutes, just to be acknowledged. It's not unreasonable to expect a timely greeting and a bit of attention from the bartenders, especially considering the prices they charge for their drinks. Unfortunately, this was just the beginning of our frustrations. To add insult to injury, we ordered Belvedere vodka, expecting a certain level of quality given the price point. However, it became apparent that we were being served Tito's vodka instead. When we received the bill, we were shocked to find that we had been charged $10 for Belvedere, a clear misrepresentation of the product. When we politely pointed out this discrepancy to the bartender, she insisted that she had served us Belvedere. It was disheartening to witness such dishonesty and a blatant attempt to overcharge customers. The slow food service only compounded our dissatisfaction. We waited for what seemed like an eternity for our sushi dishes to arrive at our table. Given that Social House 7 is known for its sushi, we expected the food to be a highlight of our dining experience. Unfortunately, the delay in service detracted from our overall enjoyment, and by the time our food arrived, we were already disheartened by the other aspects of our visit. Considering the poor service, inaccurate drink charges, and slow food service, I cannot, in good conscience, recommend Social House 7 to anyone seeking a pleasant dining experience in Pittsburgh. With so many other excellent sushi restaurants in the area, there are plenty of better options available. Save your time and money and explore other dining establishments in the city that prioritize customer satisfaction and honesty in their service. Social House 7, with its extreme prices and horrible service, falls far short of the mark.
First time in Social House 7, and you have to go! It’s the cutest little spot with amazing food. The social california roll was fire! My cocktail was also really good, and the service at the bar was fantastic. It was a little busy since I came in on a Friday night, but the staff was working as a team taking care of everyone. The ambiance is very welcoming and charming, I’m so glad I found this place. I will definitely be back.
Big fan of this place. Nice Pittsburgh spot with great service and decor that transports you to somewhere not Western PA. I stop in here semi often, but the scenery is nice and the cuisine is pretty good. Prefer to sit at the bar than the restaurant space but to each their own. Cheers!
Food was very delicious and service was also great!! I'll definitely be back again.
We were a walk-in around 5 and plenty of open tables but were forced to sit at the bar or no other option. Bartender was nice but not knowledgeable about food. The restaurant was a cool vibe, I would go back if I had a reservation. Food had a great presentation with a good taste. We ate Bi Bam Bap & Firecracker Shrimp, both cooked well.
Sushi rolls were incredibly disappointing - the rice and nori were chewy, the salmon had a thick band of connective tissue running through it. The rolls were very rice heavy and poorly constructed. The Gin Tin cocktail also let me down, it tasted like vodka and lemon seltzer. Overall very disappointed in the food. The atmosphere was great and the interior is extremely well decorated.
Wow, this is truly excellent food! Top 2 best restaurants in the area Penn Hills/Monroeville, maybe the best. If you are anywhere near it, come to Fun Asian Bistro! I was very pleasantly surprised with the prices, flavors, and portions. I ordered the
