Beautiful little lookout spot and covered bridge. Nice little spot to pull over and take in the view, read the information boards posted and learn a little bit of history. The colors in autumn 🍂 are outstanding. When my family stopped it wasn't too busy, but it was also a little chilly that day. Stopped towards the end on October. No cost to park or cross the bridge.
Very cool experience to walk on this bridge and see the covered bridge down below. The walkway was a little icy due to the weather, but I enjoyed it. We live only 5-7 minutes away from this bridge. There are 18 covered bridges in Ashtabula County.😇
Beautiful bridge. There is a park below the bridge with a nice walking trail and a smaller covered bridge (for foot traffic only). This bridge is really easy to find and I always stop by every time I'm in the area.
Wow, this bridge is awesome! Bonus bridge below. Parking was not the best if you were looking to walk across. But there is a nice picnic area and path.
This park is well maintained and has beautiful views. You can walk the Smollen bridge as well as take the smaller bridge below on the Walking path along the river. If you're looking for a longer hike, you can continue on to a waterfall on a 4 mile hike. There's plenty of parking as well.
Very cool bridge, kids and I ran across on the walking path, and there is a nice river stream below the bridge where you can skip stones and cross the river.
Always nice to walk around along the river and through the woods
It's...a bridge! Beautiful this time of year! If you pull into the parking lot there are signs with some information of the history of the bridge and the area. Down the big hill from the parking lot (you can drive down. There is another lot) there is a bathroom and a trail you can walk. To get far you'll need to cross the river, but the first part is paved and dry. I hear a lot of people complain about litter and homeless, but I have not seen much of either, myself.

Amazing! Definitely stop by the museum, talk to Barrie, and see his mother's collection of covered bridge memorabilia. His grandfather set the stones for the bridge. His family has been in the area since 1820
Built in 1925. A very cool looking lift bridge that is often covered in lights. The Ashtabula lift bridge carries Ohio State Route 531 across the Ashtabula River in the harbor of Ashtabula. I will get better photos the next time I'm there.
I'll be honest, I was very surprised by how good the food was here. Ashtabula doesn't exactly come to mind when I think of fine dining, but Bascule Bridge pulled out all the stops. We loved the ambiance, our waiter was hilarious and attentive, and ev
We are absolutely blessed to have such a gem in our community. I have been coming here since I could hardly put one foot in front of the other. (3 yrs old maybe?)
It is something special for sure. The cookies are unbelievable with the light frosting

We live in the candy belt so we have a lot of amazing confections in this area...that being said, Marianne's is my favorite chocolate by far! They are right in the historic Ashtabula Harbor in a shop that reminds you of the candy store in Willy Wonka
