Don't get me wrong.....The facilities here are emaculate and well Maintained with all of the services you would expect from a well managed Park District! I play softball here in a league and I REALLY am not a fan of these all Astro turf fields at all! The entire field is synthetic turf which just takes so much feel out of the game. For instance, having no dirt in the batters box, mound or I field leaves you with no visible reference points that you have been accustomed to your whole life which takes your timing off in everything you do. Secondly, dirt is so important in digging in the batter box and turf is really weird to hit from. Dirt is way better for Fielding as you have that natural give from sliding that turf doesn't offer. I can see way more Injuries on this surface than the conventional parks. This artificial surface is really bad if it is wet and you can expect to pull a hammy or groin messy around on this surface if it is slick! No substitute for the real thing! I can see they want to save money on maintenance but the wear and tear on a players body is going to be the price you pay on this surface! At the very least they should consider installing the dirt back in box, mound and infield. Not much maintenance there!
Skokie playfields I gave it five stars just because I never saw it I never been there I must have just drove by it but I got to post something to talk so I give you five stars I'm sure it's a very nice place check it out I don't know
Very nice artificial turf fields - not that these are highly used for organized team practices so may not be availabile to the public
State of the art synthetic turf fields, meticulously maintained and very well lit. Parking during the evening can be a bit challenging.
Two artificial football fields offer plenty of space for people to play soccer, football, lacrosse or even baseball.
Beautiful facilities and field play. There are plenty of stands for spectators but no concessions that I know of.
Great facility and they take extra care with safety by having nets over the bleachers and play area.
Nice good quality Turf, parking available, easy to get to. Overall a nice facility
A little Park between shopping and the train. I am relaxing outside while my wife and daughter shop.
The park itself is well kept. Multiple places to sit and have lunch or something in the natural shade. Water fountains, playground (busy with moms a

As someone that is still not doing indoor dining, I really appreciated the outdoor space at Fred's Garage. There are overhead heat lamps for cooler times and I'm curious to see how late in the season they will stay open outdoors. The Gerald McClendon
