Visit Western Colorado's history! Tour the Historical Park including our 1914 Austin school house, an outdoor jail, a two-story cabin and other historical buildings decorated in period items which have been donated to the Park. Admission is by donation.
This park is a little history haven. Enjoy a picnic under shady trees and take a brief casual tour of local history featuring a collection of furnished homestead cabins, a cowcamp, a saloon, an office, a dry goods shop, and an authentic smithy. for FREE! families and kids welcome. Dog friendly.
Such a cool time capsule!
Interesting displays, Beautiful quilt show.
I haven't been inside yet because the Silt Historical Park is closed during the off-season. This site is open from May 1st to October 31st, Tuesdays through Fridays from noon to five. I could see various interesting artifacts through the fence including train cars, tools, and farming equipment from the early 1900s. Admission to the site is free but donations are encouraged. Tours can be arranged by calling 970- 876-5801. I am looking forward to exploring this hands-on museum once it reopens.
This place was amazing. No cost to go, but can make donations. It is set up as a small community with actual historical buildings. The volunteer there took us around and explained everything to us. I highly recommend it
