Great food! I love going here eating my brunch on a day off from work. Staff is great and helpful. It is always busy so prepare to wait if you have a big to large group. The scones here are very good and my favorite is the Boss breakfast. It is always consistent on the taste and texture of their foods. I recommend this cafe.
Best scones! They got my five stars for hanging a Black Lives Matter sign in a conservative city! Good on ya! 🤙🏽
I went to Sill’s for my first time and they give a pretty excellent diner experience. The scones are perfect, I would go back just for the scones. The rest of the food was good, but not memorable. We had about a 40 minute wait time and there were many people that ended up leaving because of the wait. I would be sure to come when you’re not in a hurry. You can tell that this place is definitely a local favorite. The staff was also very kind and attentive- 5 star customer service. It was a nice experience.
Used to love this place. Went at 7pm and asked to wait in our car for a table. Went in 20 min. later. I've never had a breakfast meal be inedible until this one. Scone was great but that's it. Then I was scolded while paying about their closing at 8pm. I bit my tongue. Wanted to say, don't worry we won't be back at any time... Ever! Eat here at your own risk.
Usually I have a good experience here. And the food is great. However, today, it was the worst I've ever had before. I understand being busy. We were seated before three different tables. We ordered before the three tables did and didn't receive our food until after all three tables had already started eating. We waited 30 minutes for our food. If you have two cooks, have the faster one help the other cook. The manager didn't apologize for anything. The table chart needs to be worked on. Our problem was not solved at all.
I've passed by many times, but never at a time when a meal was asking to be eaten. I knew we would be in the area for a meal. With so many five star reviews, I felt that not eating here would be a disservice. The staff here is friendly. The locals obviously love it. We ordered a scone, some chicken strips with fries, and a spicy chicken sandwich with tater tots. The scone came out hot, with a huge scoop of honey butter. We wasted about half of the butter. They really don't hold back on the butter. The scone was fresh, soft, and delicious to the taste. We devoured it in about 5 seconds. It wasn't small, but we were hungry, and it was tasty. Dinner came a few minutes later. I considered getting the deluxe chef salad, but upon learning what makes it deluxe (the addition of sliced roast beef), I decided on other food. We ordered a spicy chicken sandwich with tater tots and chicken strips with fries. The chicken sandwich comes deconstructed, so make sure you are ready to put the lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, and mayo on it. It didn't take long to see one glaringly important part of this meal. I found that I am not a local. Don't get me wrong, some of the food was good. The tots were crisp and as near ambrosia as tots can get. The fry sauce was meh. I ended up making my own with the leftover mayo, ketchup, cholula, and pepper. The chicken was flavorful, just not spicy. It was crisp and not overcooked. The bun was soft. The fries were, well, I think the picture speaks for itself. Overall, the locals love this place, so if generic diner food or scrumptious scones are up your alley, stop in. Next time, I think I'll give the breakfast a try.
What a disappointment.. I came from Salt Lake City to enjoy a good breakfast I ordered the bacon and eggs and I asked that my potatoes be cooked crispy with cheese on top. The first time they were delivered with soggy potatoes and no cheese so I asked that the waitress remedy the problem. Not only did she give me attitude but she brought me out a plate of deep fried overcooked potatoes with a sprinkle of cheese that were unedible. Someone owes me gas money. Then I asked to speak with the manager and my waitress said they didn't have one. 🤯
Our latest visit was less than stellar, the kids pancakes and bacon were good. The grilled ham and cheese sandwich with the english chips were great. But I had the spicy chicken sandwich, fries were fine, but the chicken was dry and the buns dwarfed the chicken patty. Over all the service was good, but I would be embarrased to serve that meal here. We had the Salisbury steak with a salad and vegetables, it was fabulous. I had the Chicken fried steak and it was the best I have had. Tasted like it was made fresh, soft but firm on inside, crispy outside and great tasting breading. The sauce was flavorful and.just the right consistency as well as no salt taste like you get at a lot of places To top it off we had an awesome scene to finish our meal. The wait staff was nice and attentive and not overbearing.Great place and is worth going out of your way to Layton.
