Not the most welcoming bartenders speaking from a black girl experience. Although they had great cocktails and food, I would probably never go back.
What a great place we stumbled upon in downtown near Lake Merritt. The server was a delight, friendly, and engaging. I went along with his recommendations, and I have to say he was spot on. The place was clean , warm, and a good vibe, food was 5 star fresh and nicely presented

We had ribs and the burrata, along with a house made cocktail and a local beer. The ribs were excellent!
The burger was juicy with hints of fresh oregano. Burrata had a beautiful presentation with bright Citrus flavors. We had friend with a garlic allergy and they made something special for her, since what she wanted wasn't available. They even brought us dessert. The blackberry lemon curd cheesecake was perfect. Thanks again. We even forgot to take pictures!
Probably the best salmon I have ever had. Crispy outside and perfectly cooked inside, flavor was tremendous.
Cocktails were great, and our server was attentive and very accommodating. Highly recommend this restaurant!
We really enjoyed Sidebar. First, their Manhattans are fantastic, if you can nail a classic cocktail then we're off to a good start. I had three.
We ordered the salmon and a salad and both were fantastic. The salmon was sitting on a bed of lentils (?), I think, but whatever it was was very good.
This isn't the cheapest place in Oakland but I don't feel like we were ripped off, either. Also, the staff was exceptionally friendly and attentive, that's huge these days.
The food was amazing. We had the salmon, chicken Masada, and the chicken fried steak. All amazing! Substituted mashed potatoes for the fingerling potatoes at the server's suggestion. Great idea! It's kind of loud of a Saturday night, but it's a great vibe. Can't wait to eat there again.
I absolutely LOVE this place. Everything on the menu is Delicious. Small, calm and clean environment. Great place to share conversation and a meal with a stranger. Or sit alone and enjoy a book and some lunch.
