Shore House at The Del, Curio Collection by Hilton - Featured Reviews (109)
We LOVED our stay at the Del Coronado Shore House. The rooms were so spacious, clean, and beautiful. The staff was SO welcoming, helpful, and kind. The breakfast at the bistro was lovely and delicious. We loved the pool and the quick access to the beach. It was the perfect launching point for all our San Diego adventures. We can’t say enough good about the valet and housekeeping staff.
Nestled within the historic charm of The Del, Shore House offers a delightful escape that blends modern comforts with classic elegance. We plan our annual family trip to The Del, the Shore House specifically, and the reasons are multiple.
The accommodations at Shore House are simply stunning. Our room was impeccably decorated with a tasteful coastal theme, offering breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean right from our window. The attention to detail in the design made us feel instantly relaxed and pampered.
Beyond the luxurious accommodations, Shore House also excels in providing excellent amenities. Whether lounging by the pool, strolling along the pristine beach - every moment was filled with relaxation and enjoyment.
Overall, our stay at Shore House at The Del was nothing short of exceptional. The combination of unparalleled hospitality, breathtaking surroundings, and first-class amenities truly made our experience unforgettable. We can't wait to return and create more cherished memories in this coastal paradise.
My husband and I splurged to stay at the Shore House at the Del to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary. We booked and paid extra for an "ocean view" room. The room was NOT an ocean view room!!! We were on the first floor and the furthest room from the ocean. Our room was the closest room to the check in desk. "Supposedly" the hotel was 95% full and there were no rooms available on the second or third floors. Which when booking the room, it leads you to believe that you are on an upper floor with an ocean view!!! Being on the first floor and the furthest from the ocean, you have all of umbrellas, glass and people blocking the ocean. There was no ocean view at all. And if the hotel was 95% full, the majority of people never left their rooms!! So I doubt that it was that full!!!!! I literally cried because we had splurged for this weekend and it was NOTHING that we were expecting. We were totally ripped off. We did not get what we paid for and the Del should be called out for false advertising and ripping people off!!!!!!! I will be giving my business from here on out to Glorietta Bay!!! Better prices and great customer service and no deception!!!!
On the positive side….The location is fantastic. It’s right on the beach and the boardwalk. The oceanfront residence was on the ground floor and it was spacious with all the amenities including microwave, coffee maker , washer dryer and fireplace inside and outside . It was spotlessly clean. The pool was a bit overcrowded but the service was excellent (towels, food, drink) and included complementary iced fruit, lip balm, popsicles etc. Check in and check out staff were welcoming and accomodating. We were given a late checkout (complementary) and our stay was wonderful. There were just a couple of negative aspects. The first one was the cost of the valet parking , 75 usd and they were short staffed so you had to wait a bit so i recommend you call the front desk ahead of time to ask for your car…next problem was that there was no room service and all the restaurants closed early so plan ahead if you enjoy eating late .
Terrible experience and do not recommend. We’ve had to have maintenance in each day of our stay thus far to fix problems with the room. These rooms are relatively new - I believe only two years old and we’ve had multiple issues as well as three false fire alarms over the course of our stay at 3am, 7am, and 6am - incredibly frustrating and must be especially hard for families with small children - hard to understand why such a new facility has so many issues. Given the significance of these disruptions management response has been poor in our opinion. It’s been difficult to find someone in charge and to get them to respond in a substantive manner.
This is a very exclusive facility and priced as such, which we don’t mind as long as the value is there for the money. You should expect a lot for the price point here, but in our opinion, simply not worth the money, not even close. Compensation to us for these issues falls short of a reasonable expectation in our opinion.
On the positive side, the valet and housekeeping staff have been great, as well as the maintenance personnel.
In addition, beware - there is substantial construction going on at the Del - which is great to see in terms of them upgrading the facility, however it is somewhat disruptive to the experience. Call ahead to make sure you understand what construction is occurring and disruptions you might encounter.
Further, the beachfront was contaminated with high bacteria levels in the initial part of our stay - apparently from waste being dumped into the ocean to the point where you are not allowed to swim and this does not appear to be a one off occurrence… this is an issue that’s clearly out of control of the facility so it’s not their fault. However we would recommend asking about it so that you’re aware if it’s going to be an issue during your vacation experience.
Beautiful hotel with nice pristine rooms. They have so many things ready for you in the bathroom. Tooth brush and toothpaste, vanity and shaving kits no need to pack anything! Their buffet in the morning was perfect with so many delicious choices. Loved the staff and how quickly they attended to all our requests
Staff was super friendly. Our kids loved the pool and hot tub and spent hours in them every day we were there. Location is fantastic with easy beach access and many restaurants and activities on the Del property. We hope to visit again soon.
The Shore House is a beautiful expansion of Hotel Del. It’s very bright, clean and modern. It’s gorgeous! Our stay started with a friendly greeting from Wyatt. He is such a kind, helpful, caring and jovial human. Great way to kick off the trip! The kids voted him one of the best interactions of the entire experience. After arriving in our room, we were a bit stunned as it was not the Ocean View room we had reserved. We looked directly at the pool bar. We had the first room on the first floor backing to the common area. The only way to see the ocean was to stand on a chair on the patio, lean over the patio railing and turn your head to the right. We talked to the front desk right away. They guaranteed us that this accommodation was considered an ocean view room. We rolled with it for the remainer of the day and night. At midnight, I was awoken to the sounds of vacuuming. What in the world! As a tired mom, this was not cool on vacation. The next morning, I shared our concerns with the front desk about the non-ocean view room and vacuuming. I was told there was a conference and we would not be able to change rooms until the following day. That next night, multiple individuals in our party were awoken to sounds of vacuuming. I stared at the ceiling until the wee hours of the morning. As a mom/and aunt, I had promised my littles a relaxing, ocean view room for my nephew’s high school graduation and this was not the case. We invested a good amount in this well-planned and thought-out trip, and it was not meeting advertised expectations. I even called the hotel in advance to ask about our upcoming reservations and accommodations knowing this was a once in a lifetime trip. They promised we were all good. We were on to day 3, the last of the time with our nephew and brother-in-law. Finally, we were able to move to a true ocean view room. It was as expected, and it was stunning. Patrick and Dan from management tried very hard to make it right. Though we could not rewind the last 48 hours, they did offer some credits and experiences, which we did appreciate. They also helped make accommodations for our immediate family to stay in the double queen room instead of checking out to go next-door to the Cabanas for the duration of our trip (which was previously planned). Head of housekeeping was also very kind in trying to get us moved over as well (I apologize, as I do not remember her name). I am not joking when I say, for them to clean the other side of our room (king bed and kitchen), the fourth day, they did it again at night. There must be a better way for the outside cleaning crew to get these rooms and hallways clean. Overall, the staff is very kind and helpful, the bummer is I feel like their hands are tied a bit as they are at the mercy of the owners. Kudos to the pool staff as they were nice, happy and helpful. Our favorite gal was at the bar every day (I am sorry, I cannot remember her name). They were attentive and prompt in every way. The kids were excited for popsicles by the pool and ChapStick. Nice touches. The breakfast buffet was standard, no complaints. We were blessed to depart with the kindness of Wyatt once again. We have stayed at many Hilton properties over the years and are currently a Diamond Member so we know the baseline - we would rate this a 4-star experience. Hope it will be a 5-star in the future because that is what we paid for and expected. Before and after photos attached. Perhaps sell it as a pool view room? Just a thought....
