What a fabulous dinner!! We did not have reservations and were fortunate to be able to be seated. It was the end of September, but, they get busy. Great view to Lake Champlain! Server was excellent - attentive and efficient. She kindly kept my water glass filled. Bacon wrapped scallops as an appetizer, fish chowder was a special, and I opted for sauteed salmon with rice. All were excellent, as was the bread. Dessert special was a very tasty (I forgot its name - fancy name) chocolate mousse/pudding with delicious dollop of 'real' whipped cream on top. We were with a friend/business colleague from CA (an original New Englander) and the icing on the cake was the Harvest Moon outside. Thanks for the great experience.
Hotel room was clean, spacious, and comfortable. Bed was great. The room had a wonderful lake view and with each room having chairs and a small table outside the door really set you up to relax and get to know other hotel guests. The bar is just a short walk away and you can have dinner there. We didn't eat at the restaurant but it was crowded each of the nights we were there so I'm thinking it's very tasty. The hotel also offers amenities like tennis equipment, kayaks, canoes, fishing equipment. It really isn't just a hotel it is a resort. We will return.
This was such a wonderful experience. The room was great, includes a fridge, which is nice. The view is incredible! Waking up and watching the sun rise over Lake Champlain is an experience to be savored. We had dinner at the restaurant and it was very good. Smallish portions, but that works for us. There are games and rentals and great things to do. We ate at the Bar our first night and service was a bit slow, but the food was good. Guests were very friendly and very well behaved dogs were a joy. The view is just incredible and it was very peaceful.
We stumbled across this hotel/restaurant and booked ourselves for a night. We were in the midst of a 2 week road trip around eastern Canada/US. |The facility sits right on Lake Champlain and is truly a hidden gem. We had dinner that night (one of the best ones I’ve had in a long time) and ended up rearranging our trip so we could stay there another night. Kudos to the chef and staff for doing such a great job. Extremely clean with a great lawn area thst has fire pits, cornhole, etc. We will be back and PS please don’t change a thing
Great little place for small weddings or a group getaway. Open your door to beautiful Lake Champlain and mountains in the far distance. Peaceful surroundings. I've done lots of wedding hair at this location. Just a quaint atmosphere!
We have eaten at Shore Acres for years. The location is wonderful and there is nothing better than sitting on the lawn in Adirondack chairs, overlooking the lake, on a summer’s evening. We arrived about 40 minutes early for our 6:30 reservation so we could enjoy a cocktail prior to dinner. Again, when checking in with the hostess, with the restaurant half eating, there was no sense of welcome, unusual for a small inn and restaurant. When we returned to the hostess after relaxing on the lawn area, we were seated. We did not see a waitperson and had to go up to the hostess after 30 minutes and ask if we were going to see a waitperson. Apparently a server went home (the restaurant was half empty) and the new server was not made aware that her station included our table). Overall, there is an apparent lack of training for all the staff, and it is all rather matter-of-fact, and gives the impression that they do not care. This is unfortunate, since the good is generally good, but there is a distinction between dining and just eating. It is unfortunate that such a beautiful location and dining room makes you feel that they do not care whether you enjoy your meal or not. Hopefully, they will improve, but our two ventures there this summer have been disappointing. We may try again next year, or maybe not.
Only ate in the restaurant and it was a mixed bag. I had pasta with lamb which tasted like it had been in the fridge for days. Store bought pasta was a disappointment especially since there’s a local pasta company a couple miles from here. Kids meals were all frozen food - frozen fries and frozen chicken strips. Not exactly fine dining for the kids. The only good dish was the fish special my wife got which she loved but I thought was just ok. We’ll give them another try. Nice server and nice little restaurant, food was not as great as we expected. In response to the restaurant saying I have an agenda and my reviews are false, my agenda is only high quality food when I’m paying $200 for dinner. We did not get our money’s worth and we did not think it lives up to a real fine dining experience. I was not rude to any servers and have no interest or agenda. It’s a factual review.
My wife and I had dinner at Shore Acres on September 25th, and everything was perfect! The view of the grounds and of the lake was amazing! We both had the salmon dish, and it couldn’t have been better! Our server was Ava, and she did a great job making us feel right at home! She is a real credit to this establishment. We will be back very soon!
