Shoots at The Shops at Riverwoods in Provo, rediscovered through the GOTYOU app, reminded me just how fantastic this Chinese spot is. On a quest for lunch while shopping, Shoots was a delightful choice. Their flavors and dishes brought back why I loved this place to begin with. They certainly lived up to my fond memories, offering a delectable dining experience that didn't disappoint. A must-visit for anyone in Provo craving authentic Chinese cuisine.
Excellent service, atmosphere and good food. We were first impressed with the free wonton chips and sweet and sour dipping sauce. Staff were very friendly and professional. I enjoyed my veggie moo shu. Others liked their food too. The chocolate-dipped fortune cookies were a great finish to the meal. Only 1/3 children liked their kids meal. I’m not taking points off for picky kids though.
We took a chance after an event in the area and tried this new Chinese restaurant. We were not disappointed. It was amazingly wonderful food. Very tasty and we wanted to eat more, but we got so full we had to stop. We started off with some Potstickers (sorry, no pictures), and while the sauce was a little strong for me, the Potstickers were soft, tender, and something I could have eat for my entire meal. We then ordered noodles, fried rice, Tangerine Chicken and Beef and Broccoli. The noodles were covered in a little too much sauce and the friend rice was descent, but nothing over the top. But that is the only complaints! The Tangerine Chicken was super delicious and I have a new favorite there. The Beef and Broccoli was super tender and the vegetables made the entre complete. The food was super delicious and so scrumptious that we are going to go back, hopefully very, very, soon. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, and the staff was helpful and super nice. Awesome place.
Overall great Chinese food! Tangerine chicken is a strong option, as is the Sweet and Sour. Skip the chow mien, unfortunately. Loved the crab cakes! Try to go on a weekday though, or make sure you make a reservation — long weekend wait times.
We got take out. It was only egg rolls and chicken fried rice. BUT the egg rolls are awful. Like, microwaved frozen rolls awful. The only reason for the 3 is because the chicken fried rice was decent. Not great, but it was good. Too many options to make this a repeat.
I just want to start by saying I’ve been going to Shoots for several years. It was always a calm, high quality place with great service and good food. And now, they still have great service. Unfortunately, the reviews are true. The prices are extremely high for what you get. Paying $14-17 per plate to not even include an egg roll or soup is super disappointing. And the food is pretty subpar. I’ve tried a variety of dishes like sweet & sour pork, Changsha chicken, beef and broccoli and only the chicken is still considered worthy. This is pretty disappointing as I’ve really enjoyed eating here in the past and I’m not sure what changed internally. I don’t think it’ll last much longer at these prices and quality.
First time going. I have a regular place down in Provo that I love and so I was hesitant about trying a new Chinese place but Shoots did not disappoint. The price is what you’d expect out of a restaurant in this location. We got the shrimp tempura appetizer (Japanese I know but it was pretty good) and it comes with various fried vegetables as well. I got the Black Pepper Steak dish that came out on a skillet. The flavor was fantastic. My wife got the Fried Tofu dish and the tofu was cooked wonderfully. We ended up getting the special tempura cheesecake for dessert and it was fantastic. Honestly I’d go back for only dessert that is how good it was. All in all I was impressed and will more than likely be back.
Very frustrated with my experience at Shoots. Have been to the restaurant 3 times now. Really enjoy the food and appreciate the gluten free options. We've ordered takeaway once before, and were disappointed with the portions as they were significantly smaller than the in person portions even with the same price entrees. Was at the Riverwoods today and decided to give their takeaway another try. The restaurant was mostly empty so I made a point to order an extra (and extra expensive) dish to try to help a local business. When the order came out, checked the boxes to make sure everything was there and commented to the waitress that the "side of broccoli" with the firecracker chicken looked like literally one piece of broccoli that had been cut into 3 pieces to look like more. She tried to explain away that it was supposed to just be garnish when the menu says specifically the dish comes with a side of broccoli. Then double checked that the rice was for the 2 dishes we'd ordered that were supposed to come with rice and she said yes even though the portion looked barely enough for 2 people. So I asked for extra lettuce thinking that my more expensive order and generous tip would be sufficient to be able to spare some extra iceberg lettuce and she checked with the kitchen and then told me I'd have to pay extra if I wanted any. Good thing I didn't get any extra lettuce anyway because the portions for the $10 chicken lettuce wraps were only enough for about 3 wraps. It seems absurd that a $50 meal made of 3 entrees would not be enough portion wise to feed 2 average adults and one 2 year old. If you're wondering, the $18 honey walnut shrimp is no exemption to the tiny portions. Good food, would love to see this local business thrive and also treat their customers better, with a more generous mindset. Probably will not be coming back.

Fantastic trail. Super short hike. With lots of stops, it only took me an hour to get to the destination. Definitely worth your time and relatively easy!
