The day that we went for dinner, the chef didn’t do any Hibachi tricks.
Portion sizes were ok. Flavors were average.
Not what it used to be. Ordered simple chicken fried rice for take out and literally just got chicken and rice, no vegetables. Not sure when they stopped adding veggies. Also go asked about yum yum sauce and he wanted to charge for more than one. I can make better rice at home.
Everything was perfect. We've ordered take-out many times. Rarely do we have any issues.
This was my first dine-in experience here. I'll definitely be back. Thank you!!
Update: We attempted to return. We had to order take-out & then we "tailgated" in the parking lot. We ordered $120 worth of sushi but were not allowed to be seated. All 5 in our party ordered sushi but did not want hibachi. You have to order hibachi in order to be seated. 🙄
Their website specifically lists tables other than the hibachi grill AND mentions a sushi bar. 🤷♀️ No mention of the hibachi requirement.
No A/C in 95 degree weather. Had grease dripping off the vent hood onto someone's plate. Been here many times before with no issues (besides being turned away twice for a table once with 2 hours left till close but they weren't taking any more tables and next time was completely ignored) But it seems they have went greedy and cheap. You get about 5 bites of rice. Picture is my rice before a single bite was taken. Will not be returning.
As someone who has been to several other hibachi restaurants, this place was honestly disappointing. The number one reason that you would want to go to a hibachi restaurant, a fun show with everyone participating, just doesn't happen here. If you have never been to another hibachi restaurants, you probably will not care, but for the price they charge, it's hard to say it's worth going considering similarly priced places are much more enjoyable. The entertainment I am talking about are games like catching small pieces of food in your mouth, sake being sprayed into your mouth and seeing how long you can go (these are more fun than I am describing), elaborate cooking tricks, and even letting you go up and try the same cooking tricks. Without all of these things, watching someone cook your meal is a bit boring and takes away from the experience.
The food we were served was okay. It was cooked well but mostly just seasoned with yum yum sauce making it pretty one note. Inclusion of miran and/or sake with fish sauce (all things used at other places) would have definitely improved the flavor.
The service was good. The accompanying waitress was nice and fulfilled all of our requests.
Overall, the food isn't bad but unless they improve the entertainment part of their show, I would go elsewhere if you want the full experience people rave about.
The food, our waitress, and our cook was amazing. What was not amazing was the mandatory tip and the manager/owners rude attitude. We were a party of 4 and we were paying separately (2 and 2), both our bills had the mandatory 18% tip. A couple we knew happen to come up for dinner as well and they sat them with us at the hibachi so the owner assumes we’re now a party of 6??? I tried speaking with the manager/owner and he laughed about the whole situation. If he wanted to assume all 6 of us were together, at the very max all 3 bills should have only had 6% mandatory tip to equal the 18%…..but to charge all 3 bills the 18%, Ridiculous!! Very poor business practice. I will never be back, and I will be sure to tell all my friends and family. Word travels fast in a small town.
Usually the chefs are more interactive q the guest. It was a busy Friday night, so that probably played a part as they want to turn tables as quick as possible. Always love the place.
On a very HOT ,Sunday mid afternoon, we decided to go into Shogun for a nice meal and great experience! The chefs there are ALL very good at entertaining with the meal they are preparing for you. Service was very good. Friendly staff, clean environment (did not visit the restroom) . It was not our first time dining there. I'm thinking it was our 4th time.
We are always up for sharing our table with other diners. Strangers at first, then as the meal carries on so does the visiting with the others at the table.
Each time we end up leaving with a feeling of having connected with the table mates. Truly Thankful for the opportunity and experience.
If you are on the fence about dining at SHOGUN, I recommend giving it a try.
If you are leary on dining with strangers then grab a couple of friends , family members, co-workers, etc. and avoid having too many strangers at your table (possibly no strangers at all!!)
Be prepared for a Cool experience as well as leaving with a "doggy bag"!!! ( plenty of food is served).

Best ham and cheese sandwiches around! I highly recommend trying one of their sandwiches on sourdough bread. It' simply amazing. I always enjoy their donuts, but the burgers and other thing don't take too long to order. It's worth the wait!
