What a surprising place. I stumbled upon this absolute gem and arrived in time for a tour. Absolutely fantastic museum.
The guided tour was outstanding the curator was extremely knowledgeable about the Sherman family history, the building and General Sherman. The house and grounds are very well kept and the furnishings were authentic to the period. I really enjoyed this tour and learned quite a bit regarding the history of the area and the Sherman family. I highly recommend this to anyone interested in the early history of General Sherman.
Wonderful place to visit. Very friendly and informative staff. We had a great experience and learned a lot. Thank you from the Kramer's from Wisconsin to the Sherman House Staff for sharing your time and knowledge with us.
Breathtakingly beautiful! This place is a must visit if you are interested in the American Civil War. Not only is it an excellent example of a 19th century home, but the childhood home of the "man who made Georgia howl"! (that's the state, not his wife; her name was Eleanor) 😁 There is an excellent display of items relating to the Civil War wonderfully displayed. The tour folks were friendly and knowledgeable.
Small museum but I learned so much! Sherman is my fav General and I loved visiting the home where he spent the first seven years of his life. The staff are knowledgeable and very friendly. I will de go back!
Wonderful little museum full of so much interesting history! The ladies working when I visited were also great - so friendly and informative! This museum is a must-see for any history lover 🙂
The house is utterly beautiful as is the surrounding neighborhood. The tour guides are very knowledgeable and answered all our questions. Parking is available on the street on a busy highway. After your tour take some time to see the neighborhood.
A modest 1800s home that’s well maintained. Tour quality depends on the available guide, of course, but there’s quite a number of original Sherman family artifacts to make for an worthwhile visit.

We were looking for a good place for wine tasting and luckily they were open on Tuesday. Most others were not open till later in the week. We were welcomed when we entered. The building is clean and comfortable and new looking. The staff is helpful
It's an amazing historical site. It has a 6 story working grist mill powered by a 29 foot water wheel spun by the power of the head waters of the Hocking River it is a must see. Go on the last Sunday of the month and they actually mill grain.
Great place, we sat on the patio and enjoyed lunch. We had appetizers ( which was so good we got some to take back to our cabin!). Our server was very attentive and friendly. This is a destination spot to try if you are a visitor in town. We'll be b
Great little hike! We mostly did the orange loop with the blue up to the top. We started to follow the blue to the other hill, but turned back because of time and wasn't sure how long it would take. Went and hiked before going to Amanda Roller Rink w
