Got directions to this place looking for a cheap room to sleep, but I didn't get a room. The area and the amount of pain in the people coming here, broke my heart. Spent hours talking about love, Jesus, and hope with some people who clearly didn't think God still loves them. Time passes and I didn't need to get a room and was able to actually be a human to others and listen. All in all Lisa's lounge next door was a real temptation for me, due to my old self and nature of sin, but I was able to walk away without entering the temptation of my old self, lust of the eyes. Knowing God is Good and a life of Hope is full of promises the old self can't satisfy. I was told rooms were nicer than the others in the area. One mother and daughter staying there temporarily said no roaches or rats and we're seriously thankful for it. I am glad God brought me to that place to meet people and pray with them. I walked around it a lot praying and lifting up the families of the ones staying here. Great place for a church outreach mission.

When I was fueling up at the Kroger's gas station nearby I had an outgoing salesperson approach me in effort to sell discounted massage therapy sessions. While times have been harder these days and tension builds quickly I thought how convenient did the package is they offer even broke the massage down to the quarter hour if needed. Although the hour in which they operated should have been the first sign of trouble I went into it blindly thinking, 'well I'm not busy between 1am~4am.' So I arrive at the Shelby Motel around 2:30am and there is plenty of parking available. The guests all seem interested in who pulls up in a vehicle as almost every window has someone peering out at me. One actually came out of their room to ask for a "Port" which I had no idea what that was. I went to knock on the room door to redeem my coupon and the same salesperson answered. She now was dressed in what appeared to be bedtime attire. I went with it thinking that this was part of the theme she was hosting. The room smelled of 6 day old nacho dip and warm pickle juice. She had so many candles burning in the room that it still didn't cover the hot dog water smell. There was a guy standing in the corner as if he was asleep and wobbling. I asked her if he needed help to sit and she said he was folded I believe. She motioned for me to have a seat on the bed which had half converted into a comfortable place to lay flat and the other half of the bed covered in the laundry she said she was going to do after she got this paper. She asked how long I was there for and I learned that she was not offering the same discounts as earlier advertised. When I brought this to her attention she argued but her room has to be paid immediately and I needed to prepay for the services I was going to receive. Due to the fact she had a horrible overbite and the remnant of a cleft pallet her speech impediments made it hard to understand her over the sound of a Boeing 737 taxing inside of the running air conditioner. The burned up foil laid across the top of this unit tells me that someone's been working on it. I was asked to remove my clothes so we could begin and doing so in the bathroom I was afraid to even use the toilet as there was no seat attached and just a towel draped over it. The graffiti on the walls tell a story of hate and pain and the ratchet shower and sheet blocking the grayscale color scheme of varying depths of mold made me wish I brought my slides. I step into the main room and she was smoking a clear pipe of what she said was of course tobacco but did not smell like it. I lay on the bed face down and she asked me to turn over and when I did I failed to notice she had removed her clothing and attempted to mount me like a Jamaican Bob sled team ready to prove she had what it takes. I was scared. While pushing her off me my hand slid into a moist spot on her belly (later determined to be mayonnaise) which had me recoil in fear that I could get infected. The wobble dancing disoriented man boy lit and sucked with a straw his foil wrapped and drifted back into a trance dance while I stood in amazement. I advised the woman that I was no longer interested in a massage and that's when she demanded that I still owed her and she would get (she garbled out a man's name as to which I cannot recall) to collect if needed. I grabbed my clothes and stumbled out the door into the sidewalk where again I was on display to at least 10 pairs of hungry eyes. About this time the staff from the front desk warn me that if I didn't have a room there then I would be trespassed to never be allowed to return again. I believe this was the best news I had received since I arrived. I learned that my wallet was gone thru, my money stolen, possessions gone.. and looked as if I had been high on that stuff as I made my way to my vehicle to leave. Good luck on your experience. I would skip the massage at this location. The service was horrible and I don't believe I'll ever return. To add: I do believe this was not supposed to be a massage.

Rooms were clean so were bathrooms. Beds are super hard but no bed bugs. Plenty of parking. One time no one ever came to window that was weird.

I wouldn’t stay again!!!! I’m a disabled Army veteran and I have slept on military cots that were more comfortable than the bed that we had last night. The bed has a metal frame that has 3 bars that you wouldn’t expect to be there so when you go to sit down you end up hurting yourself. The first room smelled so much like smoke that we requested another room. The second room smelled clean and like pine sol when we went in. Unfortunately that was the only plus. The walls had what looked to be mold spots behind the tv, the top blanket looked like someone had spit toothpaste on it or something else. I refused to cover up with the blanket, I laid on top of the sheets, we slept fully dressed other than our shoes. We paid for 2 nights unfortunately but we just wasted money our money because we left at 830, we brushed our teeth and washed our faces. Didn’t trust the shower! We are on the hunt for another room! * Not to mention there was no military discount. $132 wasted!

Do not stay at the others near..... This one is def the best choice. And it has a kitchen. Reminds me of a studio apartment. Bathroom was clean great shower and no bugs in room. Well maintained!

It was a dump for the price. A three-year-old could have cleaned the room better than what this room was. The furniture was stain the bedspread had stain. The toilet seat was broke. I have stayed in some pretty bad hotels but I think this is the top of the line

Absolutely not! There were stab holes in the walls, burn holes in the curtains... the lamps on the walls were hanging by a thread at best- even the bathroom light fixture was hanging down. Air conditioner barely worked and VERY loud. I was looking for an outlet near the bed and the headboard FELL OFF OF THE WALL and hit me in the head. SPEND THE EXTRA $20 and avoid sticky floors and unclean towels.

If you can get past the environment its actually a decent little hotel. 44 dollars a night. Clean rooms, microwave and refrigerator. Friendly staff. If you want a few hours alone with your husband or just need a cheap place to sleep for awhile, its a great place. Too much going on outside (prostitute, drug deal) so its not kid friendly but it worked for me.
