Shay's Restaurant - American restaurant in Shoreline - 15744 Aurora Ave N, USA

We ignored Shay's for years, based entirely on its appearance from the outside, and on its location close to automotive repair establishments nearby. A few people recommended it to us, so we decided to give it a try. It has your classic American Diner vibe throughout, and the food is wholesome, and the portions are plentiful. I felt very satisfied and quite embarrassed that I'd written it off as a dive for so many years. The Prime Rib on Fridays is really great! We also had breakfast there one day, and it was also good. Highly recommended!

I was probably the youngest person here and was eating alone but the waitress was incredibly kind and looked after me! Had the country breakfast and it was great.

Lovely service and good intentions. The spinach and mushroom omelette is the gem worth trying. The potato omelette is an interesting concept and could work if the potatoes weren’t instant mashed. The hash browns and toast were all slightly charred.

A great diner that would probably be overlooked by most. Most of the staff have worked there for many years, providing a sense of familiarity on each return visit. The menu has also remained stable with many familiar diner dishes with a handful of unique trademark dishes to set them apart from their contemporaries. I would highly recommend this place to anyone who wants a taste of old Americana with a wide selection of comfort foods.

I've lived in the area my whole life & Shay's has been around for a long time. I appreciate it's "Cheers" feel and like singing karaoke & having good drinks there on a Saturday night. They used to have a bartender named Harry who kept the bar the cleanest I've ever seen it. He was kind & respectful with everyone. I don't go there on other days/times because the bartender who's been there forever isn't. If Shay's would choose to get Harry back, take care of the musty smell in the building, and get new flooring, the restaurant could become a neighborhood hangout you'd prefer to go to over other local bars.

I honestly think this is the best diner in the PNW! Best diner I've ever been to. I keep going back because the food is amazing. I always go for the eggs benedict and everything is so good! The service is always outstanding too and I like the atmosphere too, it's very old school. 10/10 in my books!

A lovely place with great omelets! We’ve been visiting the same block quite several times. However, we’ve never noticed this little gem behind the green door. Worth a try!
