My wife and I were driving down route 2 south of Fredericksburg, and found the Shannon Air Museum. My wife actually saw a plane sitting outside and decided to turn in and we could take a look. The Museum was closed at the time, but we made a promise to come back and see what it was all about. I've included several pictures of the planes outside, and the buildings there.
The perfect spot to learn about the history of planes, very educational for both adults and kids. While you are there you get to see small airplanes lands and take off. It is privately owned yet the price. It’s a guided tour and Mike was very nice and patient with us. They have a cafe with both indoor and outdoor seating.
As a New York born and visited many museums, this museum is actually the best museum ive ever been to in my life. I went with a friend and my daughter on a free event and seriously didn’t expect much…. An older gentleman name Charles gave such an amazing tour and he was so passionate and energetic about about his tour, i fell in love with planes and the history of it. I was so blown away by how planes were engineered and the intelligence by behind them. My daughter rod on one if the plane and now cant wait until she is 16 to take lessons. Great for all ages ❤️
Displays are a bit crowded but very unique planes from the early 1900s and memorabilia from the era as well. The tour guide (volunteer) was personable and knowledgeable on the exhibits. Interesting and fun museum.
And absolutely hidden gem. A bit of a challenge to find but there is signage. Entry is thru the FBO snack bar. The single hangar holds a dozen superb artifacts and countless display cases, artwork and models. Our docent was well prepared and friendly. He was comfortable and knowledgeable. Visitors who aren't aviation buffs will find numerous tidbits to hold their interest. From record setters to Hollywood sirens to American heros, they are all there. Just because this museum is smaller than the Smithsonian doesn't mean it isn't valuable. Entry is a bit pricey. But it is privately owned and must be hellishly expensive to operate. Regardless. I'll be coming back.
We enjoyed a fabulous private tour, learning so much about the aircraft, their history and more. The facility is beautiful and a very special place with a rich history. Our docent was knowledgeable, witty and made the whole experience that much more valuable. Highly recommend!!
Docent Greg Clayton provided a one on one tour lasting one hour and fifty minutes (1h50m). Fantastic streak of luck today. Having been right across the street a couple years ago with an 18wheeler full of John Deere lawn mowers from the Wisconsin factory, I made myself a promise to someday come back. Left NY last night heading for Tampa Florida. Today, by sheer coincidence, the VA Rest Area had a photograph of the Vultee aircraft. Google Maps got me here, and DejaVu! Wow, this fence and patio looks FAMILIAR for some reason? LOL. Greg is a veritable font of knowledge and the collection of aircraft and artifacts was a joy I had not expected when I woke up in Maryland this morning. Worth every penny!
Brought my two year old who loves airplanes. We showed up at 2:30 ate and wanted to look around and see the museum. I was told “well, first you have to pay.” By the docent. Okay? I’m more than willing to, his tone assumed I wasn’t. He then suggested that it wasn’t an age appropriate museum. That I completely understand. So we chose to look at the two planes they had on display outside. By this point it was 3:15/20. Then another docent came and told us he was locking up. My comment was “ohh is it four?” (Their closing time). I was then shrugged off and basically told that because they aren’t doing a tour they are leaving. So, just note: assumed I couldn’t pay after eating there. Shooed me off early because they wanted to leave early. Also, clearly not kid friendly (my biggest disappointment).

The folks at River Rock have always gone out of their way to help me get new gear--often special ordering in items for me. They have also done a great job of facilitating the consignment sales of my older gear. They do it all with smiles, and genui
The absolute best place to train. We love Pup n Iron so much. Iâve learned so much coming here the past few years but the number one thing is Iâve learned that this relationship with my dog is priority numero uno! Once we build that foundation
