Shady Grove Cabins - Motel in Downs - 1319 Kansas St, USA

Cute little cabin. My daughter and I stayed there last night. I was very impressed with the cabin, especially for the very affordable price. It was very clean and the beds were comfortable. It was quiet and the staff were very friendly. Recommend this great little place.

We LOVED our stay at Shady Grove. Due to COVID we wanted to stay in our own cabin and this place was perfect, plus check in was completely contact-free (check your cell phone for messages before arrival). The cabin (Bear) was definitely rustic and quirky, but completely comfortable and well appointed. This was one of the larger cabins and was perfect for two people and a dog ... nice refuge from a big rainstorm. It is absolutely not a standard hotel room - do not expect that! It is much more like staying in a vintage camp cabin. Note to next guests : You can move the table out from the wall and extend the leaves (underneath the ends) to make it easier to use.

Really enjoyed my two night stay at Shany Grove! The room was plenty spacious for three people--I love that the bunk beds are full sized. Decor was fun and themed. The cabin was very clean and in good shape. It was nice to have in-room heat/cool control. The mini-fridge was great to have as well. The owner was friendly, welcoming and gave great tips on sights in the area. I would definitely stay here again!

We stayed in cabin #1 over Memorial Day weekend. The cabin was exceptionally clean (seriously, the cleanest place I’ve ever stayed!!) and the bed was very comfortable. We loved being able to sit outside on the porch and enjoy the weather. The highlight of our stay was spending the evening visiting with our host, Mary. The location is great for proximity to Glen Elder and it was nice to be able to come back to an air conditioned cabin. Highly recommend staying here if you’re in the area. We will definitely stay here again.

My Sister and I went to visit family and love,love,loved the cute Cabins. They have a variety of sizes but we were in the “LooneBin” sooo much fun. Well appointed inside with 2 single beds, very nice shower area. Dorm size frig/ microwave. Loved the quaintness of the cabins,varieties of colors. Owners Kip/ Mary were so much fun and always wondering if everything was OK. Definitely give these a shot if you ever are looking for the fun of individual cabin lodging. You won’t be disappointed.

My family stayed at Shady Grove cabins for multiple days. We were able to bring our pets with us and there was plenty of space in the cabin for all the kids. There was Wi-Fi for the teenagers, parks very close by for my younger one and tons of small town charm for me. The fact that we were very close to the lake and Reservoir was wonderful. The cabins were all so cute and it was very quiet. We had a wonderful stay and we will be back again. Thank you for accommodating our pets!

I had an amazing experience at Shady Grove. First of all the cabins are comfortable, welcoming, and clean. The couple who runs the cabins are also extremely friendly and will do anything to make your stay better. In fact, my car got stuck in the mud outside of town and the owner drove 30 minutes to come and help me out. We had a big group of people, dogs included and they went out of their way to make us feel welcome throughout the trip. Highly recommended staying here, and I will be returning.

Two weary travelers passing through visiting family in Downs. Perfect that we stayed in the Looney Bin. It was fitting to our fun sense of adventure, and our mother/daughter looniness. ||Cute cabin decor and warm cozy feel on a rainy weekend. All you need basic amenities, very comfortable twin beds. We didn’t get to meet Mary, but she definitely has that small town trust and charm you’d expect in Midwest Kansas. Helen was available to get us settled quickly after arriving. ||I recommended this little treasure to our local family members in the area. As a young girl visiting Downs, I always wanted to stay in the cute little houses. I was delighted to find they had been recently restored. Definitely will stay again!
