I’m a big fan of Des Moines’ growing cocktail scene, and SA is a cool out-of-the-way spot that’s not really out-of-the-way. Cozy interior, but it really shines on warm days with a large back patio. The southwest sider was a perfect gin drink for a Iowa summer Saturday.

We stopped in on an unexpectedly busy Tuesday evening during their Nice List holiday takeover. The guys working worked their butts off to keep up with the rush and did a great job. We always enjoy the drinks here and especially love their dog friendly patio in the summer!

Good cocktails, albeit a bit less complex and often lighter bodied than the traditional indoor cocktail bars (including Hello, Marjorie by the same group). It’s definitely a more summery/outdoors vibe in the menu but always worth a stop particularly on a nice day. Patio is gorgeous and there is free lot parking nearby on weekends and evenings.

Great little bar right by Court +bonus points for not being on Court. Drinks were tasty and staff were incredibly attentive. Received a great draft beer recommendation when I went! Cozy place with nice decor and intimate atmosphere, great for date nights and small group gathering.

Secret Admirer offers super cool Christmas ambiance along the DSM Christmas popup circuit. Graham Cracker drink is great, think Cinnamon Toast Crunch meets White Russian.

My husband and I are regulars at Secret Admirer every week and it has been the cutest place to be during the week and on the weekend. The bartenders are so friendly and accommodating. I would highly recommend stopping in! The view from the building is gorgeous, the dining area is clean and the drinks are amazing!! I would highly recommend anyone stop in when traveling through the metro. The only thing I wish they had were outdoor heaters so patrons could utilize the patio during the winter or colder evenings. Shout out to Geoff and Sean who are two of the best bartenders in town. They deserve a raise for sure!
