This hotel was a great base for our daily adventures. Close enough to the ocean that we could take morning walks to watch the sunrise. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. The room was a bit small for a family of 4 but were clean. The hotel activities such as traditional lei making and the live music was also nice to participate in. The free daily coffee and kombucha was also nice too. Over all it was a great place to stay.
We just stayed at the SCP for a couple nights in late July. Overall I recommend this hotel. We were really happy with our stay and just want to add some perspective to the reviews. ||Mostly, we really liked the vibe; super nice people, down to Earth, a mix of tourists but also Hawaiians staying there (there were, for example, some families and kids from Oahu there for a baseball tournament). They have done a good job with adding little amenities. The live music as night was very cool. ||The rooms are what they are; if you are looking for luxury you won't find it here, but neither will you find it anywhere else in Hilo. (We walked over to the bigger hotels over on the Bay; they are very very tired, and I would stay here ten times out of ten over those places). Rooms were very clean, comfortable, beds are good, they have AC and ours had a nice view of the koi pond. It was tight for four of us (kids ages 9 and 11) but we managed fine for a couple nights. ||The nice surprise for us was the little cove on the Bay out front. Each day this becomes kind of like a community swimming hole. The water is clear, turtles swimming around, and kids are jumping off rocks and the seawall into the water. Families picnicking on the grass. We took the paddleboards out and just hung in the water for an hour and swum. Not a lot of tourists which is great, and of course, is sort of the point of traveling. We ate at Pond's across the cove one night which was a similar vibe.
Great for groups. The bed was comfortable and the rooms have a nice fan and breeze. Air-conditioning units are also in each room. The desk is very helpful and so is the refrigerator. The staff are wonderful, accommodating and communicative. The vibe is great, nice space with plants, pool, and swimming area right in front.
Overall it was a great stay! Amenities were robust and the grounds were beautiful! There are plenty of restaurants nearby and the staff is wonderful. The bed is comfortable and the rooms are perfect for the Island vibe. The little things like common room, live music, and welcome drink add to the space.
We loved our stay here! We stayed 8 nights and felt completely at home. The beds were soft and the rooms were clean. Each room had a sleep sound machine and air diffusers. The layout was open concept. Our room was across from the Zen garden. It was beautiful. The artwork was beautiful. The pool was serene. The front Bay overlook was gorgeous. We really enjoyed the live music. Great talent! The lei making was fun. Most of all the staff was very friendly! We loved it here!!!
This was such a nice hotel! The room was plain but it was clean and had everything we needed. The pool area was beautiful and so were the rest of the common areas. What a great find! I’d definitely recommend anyone to stay here!
A very unique hotel, very clean common areas, rooms were minimalistic and also relatively clean. Their massage service is top notch! Just the overall vibe is awesome! Close to everything in Hilo
Lovely hotel! We stayed here two nights and it was wonderful. Very friendly staff. Good amenities including two free draft kombuchas for our stay! Definitely check out Big Island Coffee that is right next door. Only negative is that the blinds/windows don't close all the way so it can be fairly bright in the room with the sun out and a bit noisy (especially with the birds cawing all night) - but certainly not horrible! Would definitely stay here again!
Amazing service, and everything was spotless! Lau is an exceptional host, making everyone feel right at home, and it showed in the comfort and ease of connection between the guests. Great location. Walking distance to all the happenings downtown, but
We loved our stay here. The room was very clean and comfortable. The property is off the beaten path. I was a little concerned about the no A/C because I run hot, but I was completely fine with the fans. Loved the sound of the frogs at night. The ban
