Schermerhorn Park - Park in Galena - 3501 S Main St, USA

This is a wonderful park! Plenty of places to picnic or enjoy a quiet afternoon with your family. They have amazing bluffs that are easy to get to (if you're ok with a little 5 minute hike here and there), the water is clean and shallow. There are a lot of fossils and cool rock walls as well!! I'm definitely making this one of my weekly trips because there's not enough daylight to see everything in one day!!

I LOVE this place. Nature is my church, water is my element, and this place just brings so much peace, adventure, exploration, serenity, crystal clear waters, nature trail, and a CAVE! Although, apparently everyone else loves it too, because it is always busy!!

This place was a gem. The staff there was absolutely full of information and so friendly! We learned so much. The cave was pretty cool, even just going into the mouth, and the trails were beautiful. The creek was great for wading as well. Overall a great afternoon.

Didn't get to spend a bunch of time here, but the water access was a great place to stop and stretch your legs

A great little park with a surprising amount to do. Schermerhorn Park is located along Shoal Creek, and boy was it fun. There are a couple nature trails (one leads to a beautiful little cave)! A Nature center, swimming at the creek and lots of picnic areas with grills. We walked to the caves, swam and grilled up some brats. It was a great day, best of all totally free!

Very pretty and nice trails. I was surprised at how much I enjoyed this place. It has a lot of river access too. A cave, picnic tables, playground, covered areas for parties, and much more. Not too crowded either.

If you go there during off hours a ranger will show up. Then Carrie hit the gas cause we wasn't stopping......
