This is a true hidden gem. We are lucky to happen to stop by since our other plan fell apart. Lisa and her husband, are kind and warm and provided us a warm welcome, and a clean room at a surprisingly low price even at the very last minute. We had a pleasant stay, and beautiful views and a dinner at the nice pavilion overlooking the rail road ( which we took the next day ). Our son loved the rocking chairs outside. Hope you guys thrive in the business !
The place was built in the 1950’s. It has been family owned and operated since the beginning. The current family are the second owners. Comparing it to a Hilton Garden inn or a Hampton inn wouldn’t be fair or reasonable. Definitely not new and shiny. However, it was very clean and well maintained. It reminded me of places that I used to stay at when I was a kid on my family vacations. It was a refreshing and much needed dose of the way things used to be. There aren’t many places like these left. There is a distinct unapologetic aura of an antique that brings you back to a simpler time, the good old days. It was a good feeling to patronize a place that has been locally owned and operated for approximately 70 years by hard working old school Americans. I would definitely stay there again.
Lovely couple run the place. Clean and well kept. Don’t offer Wi-Fi but most smart phones enable hotspots, easy fix. Very peaceful, enjoyed easy access to main roads, downtown, convenient & grocery stores. Would stay again. 💕🙏🏼😊
Great motel and owner. Stopped here after riding the Tail of the Dragon and would highly recommend it to anyone passing through. Fantastic views made all the better by the rocking chairs. Cold A/C, great water pressure in shower, and really nice rooms.
Cute from the outside but the mattresses were probably as old as the hotel with NO SUPPORT and noisy just to sit on it. The AC wouldn't stay on as the thermostat must not have recognized it was not cold enough in the room and it was a very noisy unit. The toilet bowl had not been scrubbed out, the sink and the tub drained super slow. It did have a smaller Frig with a freezer section👍🏻
Nice location overlooking the river. Clean rooms, great value!!! Jim and Peggy are wonderful hosts. This is a gem!!!
Nice quiet hotel that does not break the bank like their motto says. We will be back.
Place is amazing. Great price and view to die for. Peggy is one of the most down to earth people you will meet. Will be staying here again for sure.
While vacationing in North Carolina, we booked a fishing trip with Fontana Guides and it was the best decision we made. Captain James made our trip unforgettable that was filled with fishing, swimming and cruising on the beautiful Fontana Lake with b
We were walking around downtown Bryson City and popped in to check out the adjoining store and were immediately greeted with the amazing smells permeating from this place. We ordered a few of their freshly prepared items and they truly hit the spot.
My husband and I have been going to the Folkestone for over 5 years. Sometimes twice a year. Scott and Toni are amazing at all that they do. They are so welcoming and you can tell they love what they do. Scottâs breakfast is delicious! The property

The walk up to the dome is a steep paved road; they do have benches periodically for the people who need to stop and rest. It is worth the hike, you will not be disappointed! Gorgeous views! Also you can hike the Appalachian trail, look for the sign.
A beautiful picnic spot with numerous tables, clean restrooms, and ample parking. Well maintained and easily accessible.
We were able to spend some amazing time there for the lunch break while we were traveling to Gatlinburg.

We come here every year. Our trailer is 33 feet so we park up on the hill, which is perfect. Youâre still close to the river, but have more space and the sunrise and sunset is beautiful. The campground is family owned and they are the kindest peopl

This is a very beautiful park. It has parking, There are restrooms, and there are no animals allowed. That being said, there are multiple trails
Delicious experience! Knowledgeable and kind staff and an excellent menu. My smokey fog was beautifully balanced and my husband's Appalachian magic was a peanut butter lovers dream. I don't have words for our bagels except that it was a spiritual exp
