This was a great quick hike/walk for my family and I. Parking was simple and it’s a flat 5-10 minute walk on a well maintained trail. Very fun to do with the kids and very accessible. Though there isn’t much to do aside from take in the views once you’re there, it would be an easy place to have a nice picnic on the water.
What a lovely surprise! My husband grew up in Saugerties, but the lighthouse was never accessible. We enjoyed the walk, but the lighthouse was an amazing end to the journey! We watched the ships moving up/down the river and had a delightful visit with the keeper! I am an NC native and I don't believe we have rivers with lighthouses. It was a romantic excursion into another time.
Wonderful walk out to the lighthouse. Wear old shoes, read the signs before entering to make sure the trail isn’t flooded, and enjoy the beautiful view. Make sure to walk around the lighthouse and relax on the deck for a spell.
A beautiful destination for a short day trip. Short, easy walk down a path alongside the Hudson River to get to this lighthouse. It's a sight to see!
Beautiful spot worth visiting but be aware that the path can be fairly washed out and carpeted with water chestnuts. Also a fair amount of trash.
Fantastic short walk to this historic landmark at the mouth of the Espous Creek and Hudson River. Established in 1869 it is one of New York's historic light stations. Peaceful spot with tables or chairs for viewing. Osprey nest was spotted. Lovely wild vegetation. Well maintained trail.
Beautiful Location Lots of history Romantic getaway Just know you will have to hike in to the location About 1/2 of a mile from parking lot to the lighthouse ... well worth it.
Second visit. Enjoy the quiet nights on the river. Watch ocean-going ships sailing the Hudson outside your window.

Beautiful riverside trail that circles back around on a high ground trail through the woods. Additional trail that takes you past more water, and around the ruins of the ice house. In total, roughly two miles start to finish.
Definitely a must see! We were vacationing in Woodstock for the week and someone recommended that we stop by Opus 40. This is such a cool place and to think that one man built all of this out of rock over the course of his life is simply astonishing.

I did the blue trail starting at shady lane. It was a beautiful and and easy hike compared to most catskill hikes. Kids would enjoy but it's a bit far. Probably 2 miles give or take .5
I mean, there are no words. The staff is very friendly and helpful, the food is AMAZING and everything is locally grown. We went on our way to Cooperstown and stopped on our way back 2 days later. You will not regret it!!!
