Boulders were challenging, but not impossible. Holds were kind of tough, but an experienced climber should not have any problems. Many rocks that are easy to learn or have easy paths. I have never climbed before in my life, but after a few minutes I was able to climb a few. Attached are some photos that I took when on an outdoor climbing photoshoot I got booked for this past weekend.

A beautiful and epic location for family or maternity photo sessions for the San Diego area. Especially if you want train tossing images or other iconic wind-esc photos you want printed on 20 by 30.

The "Santee Boulders " are within east Elliott owned by the city of San Diego. It was Camp Elliott Marine Corps base during WW2. This area within camp Elliott was used for tank training and many of the boulders were used as targets.

Get ready to Rock Out!! Sorry, I'm a Dad. But honestly after trying about a dozen other family hiking spots this was the one that stuck. Maybe you like looking at cool sculpty rocks as much as I do. Perhaps you have kids, or dogs that need a walk (or both!) It's a good spot for a picnic. There are a few trees. But wear sunscreen! Especially if your visiting from out of state. San Diego sunlight is intense! There's a park nearby if your younger kids still haven't burnt off all their energy.

Nice collection of Boulders, variety of difficulty and techniques. Some trs. Great proximity makes it quite busy at times. Great spot to climb while the sun sets

5 stars if you are going for the bouldering, 4 stars if you just want a wander. Park across the street at west hills park. Trails are mostly informal. Kiddo friendly.

Really like the place, but you'll have to make your way through paths with lots of ants and rattle snakes. Nothing that should stop a climber 😊. Most problems are slab like, requiring good food work and crimping.
