Wonderful museum. Beautiful building full of rich and important history. Hosting us for a very important Flamenco event... dancers and guitar.. all was excellent. One negative that cost you dearly; the hostess, stereotypical "woke", welcomed us but then went on a woke. ANTIFA rant about destroying constructs. Keep your politics and extreme negative malarky to yourselves. If Marxism and "democratic socialism" is going to be part if your hosting important history, I strongly suggest you fire yourselves and hire historians rather than echo chamber ignorant fools who can only regurgitate inappropriate rants. Very disappointed. Definitely hurt the first critical moments of the event. History remains part of out past. To punish the present is a pathetic attempt to find purpose through a well beaten narrative because you cannot function I'm the present. Grow up and get over it.
We had our wedding and reception at the museum in April 2023 - it was the perfect location for our 100-guest event. We had the ceremony and dinner in the courtyard, with a tent (because of uncertain weather) and a very small dance floor. There was plenty of space for more tables if you have a larger event. We used the exhibit hall for the bar, the octagonal room for dancing, and the narrow gallery for the buffet. We used the library to get dressed and to store our things during the event. The entire space, both indoor and outdoor, was lovely and perfect for the event. Dan and the rest of the staff were very welcoming and super helpful. 10/10 would recommend!
Very nice facility, and well-curated art spaces indoor and out.
Sandy Spring Museum is a local gem! Whether you're visiting Montgomery County, Maryland or are a long-time resident, this museum has something for you. There are interesting displays on local history, including the awful (but important) history around slavery and women's rights. Their programming is also very special--everything from a strawberry festival to live music to the history of cordials! There is something for you at every life stage: single, young families, retirees and more! Visit soon and visit often! So glad we recently discovered the museum's offerings just before COVID.
Had a great time love the venue easy to get to
We had a great time. Our guide was very friendly and knowledgeable. There are a lot of things to see! We spent 1 hour and 45 minutes there. I highly recommend this place. If you live in Montgomery county you need to know its history during slavery and after.
Peace and quiet place where we do free meditation classes. Our class is at 7.00 to 8.00pm on every Tuesday.
A lovely, reasonably priced venue to get married. Lovely grounds, staff are super friendly. Chose this place for an August wedding because it works well both outdoors (weather permitting) or indoors.
