Sandpiper Bay All-Inclusive Resort - Featured Reviews (2894)
I took my mom on vacation at Sandpiper in May. It was under construction and you could see a lot of construction sites but no actual work was going on.
We had a great time! The room was immaculate! It was disappointing that no rooms offer 2 beds. They turn the couch into a day bed but it is small and super firm. They have a policy that if housekeeping is in the room then the door has to be open, well, it's FL. We returned to our room and our bathroom was swarming with little flying bugs. It was so bad that they swarmed me and got into my hair! Unfortunately, the resort does not have bug spray to offer guests. I would strongly suggest that they put screen doors on the rooms and balcony to alleviate this issue.
The adult only infinity pool is amazing and beautiful. I do wish they offered drinks by this pool. The food was buffet style and really good. There are some things that should not be on a buffet like pancakes, waffles and egg rolls as they didn't fare well.
Every staff member we encountered was professional, friendly and helpful. I do wish the resort offered clear guidelines around tipping. Other all inclusives that I visited did not allow tipping so I wasn't sure.
I wish the resort bathroom had more hooks for wet clothes and towels. I do think that all rooms should offer bug spray. If the resort is going to host an evening of Chinese cuisine they should offer guests duck and soy sauce.
It is a truly beautiful place and I would 100% recommend it. The inconvenience of the construction was reflected in the price and we received a detailed email prior to the trip explaining exactly what to expect and offering a full refund for cancellation should you not care to vacation with the construction going on. I can't wait to see it when it's done!!
Mixed Experience at the Sandpiper Resort
Our stay at the Sandpiper Resort was a bit of a rollercoaster. When we first arrived, the exterior of the buildings was far from appealing—honestly, it looked quite rough, and there was so much ongoing construction that we almost considered turning around. However, since we had already booked our stay, we decided to give it a chance.
I’m glad we did, because the interior was a pleasant surprise. The staff were welcoming and very attentive, making sure we were comfortable throughout our stay. The lobbies and rooms were very clean and nicely appointed, which made it a bit hard to reconcile with the less-than-inviting exterior. It was a strange contrast that definitely impacted our overall experience.
The bartenders were a standout—they were amazing and added a lot of enjoyment to our time at the resort. However, it was difficult to fully relax and enjoy our stay given the state of the buildings and the ongoing construction.
While it wasn’t a terrible experience, it certainly wasn’t what we were expecting. I think we would consider returning once the buildings have been updated and the construction is completed, but for now, it’s not a place I would rush back to.
Some reviews complained about the under renovation situation but the place is so great and all the staffs so professional that you don’t see it. It’s actually great that they are open now and when renovations will be done this resort is going to be a Hidden Gem
Rooms are nicely remodeled, food and drinks are delicious and pools and entertainment amazing! Thanks to everyone for a wonderful stay. We will definitely comeback
Very much enjoyed this vacation. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable. There was 2 great pools and a hot tub. We knew about the renovations and they didn't affect us at all there was no noise this was the quietest hotel I have stayed in by far. The rooms were huge and very clean same with bathroom very big. The views from the room were beautiful! Ac worked perfectly, food was diverse and amazingly good most was made to order right in front of you and there was a second place to eat a food truck on the sand. My only problem was they advertised as a beach and it was more of a bay and no one did any kayaking or sailing while we were there. Other then that great vacation.
We had a great time for our anniversary at Sandpiper Bay. Positives: The service from all staff was pleasant and very friendly. The food truck Lucy's was fast and food was good for a quick snack. The cucumber mint cooler was an amazing drink. The email bartender at the adults only infinity pool was amazing and down to earth. The bartenders right outside the buffet, next to the ping pong table were great also. Negatives: There were not many bad things to say except 2 things. When you have a day pass and you get in the lake or the pool, there was not a place for people to take a shower and change clothes. We asked the front desk and they said they only have the bathroom to use. I hope this changes like other All inclusive resorts in which they let you use the SPA to take a shower and change clothes. Or possibly if the resort is not packed. Have 1 room available to go change in. The 2nd thing that is probably part of the renovation plan is to have a true walk way through or around the sand that connects the 2 pools. Instead of walking through the rooms to get there. And the rooms on the 1st floor with sand out front should have a gate that can be opened and closed because people can look into the rooms and possibly walk in on someone in the rooms. I'm not saying anyone will just walk in a room, but the rooms need more privacy. Overall, had a great time and we will be back with more people
We stayed for Labor Day weekend to celebrate our anniversary and had an incredible time!! We had low expectations as we knew it was under renovation but I have to say it was a great experience.. big beautiful pool that was kid friendly (we had a 3 year old and 9 month old with us) with live music and fun water activities throughout the day like water Zumba, watermelon eating contest, bubble station etc. They also had an adult pool but I didn’t have a chance to check it out. There’s a main dining room, breakfast was just OK (iced lattes were great) but lunch and dinner were very good and they had rotating stations that were delicious, (amazing burritos and smash burgers, poke bowl station etc) our last night they had a pasta station that was great. The drinks were good but the best were at Lucies food truck on the sand, which also had fantastic hot foods from 11-6. They had a comedy show one night that we didn’t make it to, and live music every night. The rooms were nice, kind of basic but a big closet space and only a few buildings were opened so the resort wasn’t very busy but we liked it that way. Also there were areas blocked off for renovations but I didn’t hear any construction the entire time. The staff was great, Elysia got everyone pumped in the pool and Jay left us a sweet note and bottle of wine for our anniversary and everyone was very accommodating, overall it was an amazing weekend and we can’t wait to go back! Highly recommend!
The property was clean but pretty basic. The staff were friendly and helpful. The food was good. In addition there was plenty of it for the big appetites. The bars and bar tenders were very good as well.
I did not give the property a full 5 stars due to it being dated. The complex (at least some of it) was built in 1975 according to the date in the concrete. Everything was pretty plain and basic including the landscaping (I was told this is an old “Club Med” property). We were also told golf was included, however that was not the case. Considering all of the amenities, it was well worth the price point we paid.
With all of that said, there were various renovations being performed at several areas around the complex. Most likely landscaping is in the future plans.
I believe this will be a very nice property when the renovations are completed.
Our company has hosted our annual summer party at Sandpiper Bay resort for the past 2 summers and have had the best experience! Maria was great at helping our vision come to life and Jay and the front desk team were amazing as well! All of the staff were very friendly and accommodating. The views at the infinity pool at sunset were gorgeous! The food was delicious! We especially enjoyed the pasta station. They also set us up in a private meeting room to host our annual raffle at the end of the night. We can't wait to go back next year and see the finished product after they complete the renovations on the property!
