I stayed here for 3 weeks after looking at most the same type of hotels mostly nearby. Some were full, so I Don’t know about those ones but sandman’s parking lot was way cleaner, obviously just swept. Vic is the owner at Sandman. He’s strict, like no extra ppl in the room, no yelling, respect the microwave, TV and refrigerator. And respect your neighbors, most have lived there for years. I didn’t talk to only the guy next to me and he was kind and polite. My room was immaculate. It’s an older motel, it’s not the plaza or Peppermill, but it was super clean. No bugs, not one. Bedding was clean, sheets and towels were new or well taken care off. The pillows were super nice. Vic sweeps the parking lot everyday. Either he or his wife or both are on site for any question you may have. I locked my keys in the room for example.. he gave me a key to get in and I returned his key. He didn’t scold me or anything. My room was clean and safe while I looked for a long term apartment. No one came on the property that didn’t belong there. And Of course you can come and go as you please. He didn’t expect me to clean the room. It wasn’t a mess but I couldn’t vacuum or wipe things down. If I did, he would still clean it Vic style, he’s gonna strip the bed and wipe everything down anyway, at check out, he checked the room, I guess to see if anything is broken or missing. He pulled the covers down to make sure the pillows were there. Glanced around the room, checked the bathroom. It all took but 1 minute. He returned my security deposit. Here’s pics of my room with my things on the bed and table just before I moved out. The bed was comfortable, I think he controls the temperature. If I had to ask him to adjust it warmer or colder, I’m sure he would have. I just didn’t have to. The temperature was warmer on colder nights and pretty much perfect at its steady temp. Oh, the WiFi. Pretty weak where I was. ( the furthest from the office ) I couldn’t stay connected. I have data on my phone and the cable Tv was clear. But if WiFi is important to you to stay connected I’d ask Vic about that before you move in so he can put you in a room with a stronger signal or make the signal stronger. ( Im guessing about that) but he seems accommodating, he’s fair and honest with returning the deposit. He’s strict with the rules for your own safety and the rules apply to everyone. I payed $600 for the first two weeks and a $50 deposit. then I needed to stay a third week for $300. My apartment would be ready by then and I moved out on time. The monthly rate was less expensive than weekly rate but I wasn’t paying monthly so I don’t remember what he said. I think $900 guessing but not sure. I didn’t need a month. I would recommend it and I’d stay there again if needed. I could recommend the peppermill too but who can afford that? The sandman is affordable. Clean and safe. Vic is fair and honest. He won’t be sneaking into your room or withholding a deposit because of a smudge on the floor or something. Vic said he and his wife clean the rooms. Not one bug. No bed bugs no any bug. That’s pretty impressive for a mom and pop hotel to be current on pest control when so many like this are not and you don’t find out until it’s too late. I moved here for Renown cancer institute. I have. Feeding tube and my immune system is lower now. I NEED CLEAN. No bugs no dust no filth and affordable. Sandman met those needs.
Yeah your Good Deal ($250 a week Cash Only) turns to Garbage when you see the neighborhood. Rooms are pitiful and They control your Cooling from the Front Desk. Full on Blower over the Bed and they don't answer the phone. If they don't turn off the Air Conditioning you freeze all night like last night and the night before! No Ice Machine or Room Phone. No TV guide and two HBO stations.
Horrible management, rooms smell and very dirty. They have roaches in the rooms. Very highly priced $800 a room no a/c. Wi-fi always going out and the manager is constantly outside yelling at people staying there. If you have a guest come by they immediately come over and tell them they need to move their car even when the parking lot is empty. They are taking advantage of people b charging such a high price. No room service, or laundry people don't stay in weekly motels because their rich!!!
At the time it was the only one who had empty rooms. The manger was okay the room was good the only thing that I have a problem with was the people who live there if you are a single man who wants to find a basic room for a few nights this is a cheap place to stay, if you are a family man you might want to to stay away from the hotel
Great people. Great rates and service. It's always nice to just lay back and watch a movie on the free cable. The Wi-Fi is always up and running. If I ever have any questions or need anything... I just ask.
I have no idea about the other guests... If I wasn't so tired I would have left. Room was dirty didn't want to touch walls in shower. NEVER will I stay there again. Owners need to take some pride in the place.
This is hands down one of the worst motels in reno. The guy who runs it is a joke. He will try to rip you off for your deposit and say it's one thing then give you something else. Stay far way. Plus when we left we had been attacked by bed bugs and had to get all of our belongings we took had to be professionally washed and cleaned. Hands down horrible experience would never recommend to any one.
I've been staying here for the past 4 months, and still here. The rooms are larger than the standard through out the Reno/ Sparks area. Very quiet place to stay. The family that manages here are very nice people.
Best coffee shop in Reno! Fantastic local spot with great service and even better coffee. My wife and I just got back from Italy where coffee is so much apart of the culture and coming here felt like we never left! You can tell the owner Graeson goes
