Sanderling Resort - Resort hotel in Duck - 1461 Duck Rd, USA

This is an older property that has been taken care of... The age of the property combined with the nuances of wear and tear make it absolutely quaint and quirky. Staying on site for meals is nice so you can have an adult beverage (or two;)) and walk back to your room. The staff is absolutely professional and very friendly. I would absolutely stay here again. I was part of a group of 200 people having a few events on the property. Absolutely amazing job! The quality of the food is very good and it's priced on the upper end of the scale... 2 eggs over house made corned beef hash with a toasted biscuit is $28.00 with a glass of water. Again, very good quality ingredients and well prepared. Should you desire a more budget friendly restaurant, you're going to drive at least 30 minutes (in the off season) to find "fast food"... You have the ocean on one side of the property and the sound on the other side. You can walk from the ocean to the sound in 10 minutes and never leave the property! You do cross hwy 12.... Beautiful scenery and awesome solitude this time of year... Very few people on the beach in December...

I had my 30 year Coast Guard retirement at Sanderling Resort/ Keeper's Loft - Lifesaving Station (coast guard history). Everything for cermony/ reception was arranged perfectly! Staff was kind and accommodating. Cassidy ,my event planner, was great and always ready for last minute changes. It’s so-so. At this price point, I was expecting more. There shouldn’t be a single issue accessing rooms, I had multiple issues with my key, and the room next door needed engineering to pick the lock. Not even the hotel master key would work. Sounds minimal, but when you get repeatedly locked out of your room, it’s a big deal. Also no secondary door lock other than the integrated deadbolt, plastic cups in the bathroom like a motel would have, and the common areas in the secondary building were dirty (carpet). Location is great though, common areas in the main building were comfortable, and the service was mostly helpful. I would go back, but it would depend on price. Paid $300+ off season but I don’t think it’s worth more than $200/night, maybe $400 during the on season. Just needs minor updates.

There seems to be a pattern of not so great reviews here, but we had a great time. It was not peak season and not crowded. I hate to say my expectations were low, but we were looking for a peaceful weekend getaway, and it was. It was too cold and windy for the beach and pool, so we just lounged around. Like a lot of other reviews I'm not sure how the star ratings work but this resort was not overly nice by any means as I would expect for an advertised 4 stars. The replies to the bad reviews are disappointing as well, almost like they read "how to reply to a bad review without really caring". I would stay here again but not for a ridiculous price.

Great resort! It is going under a renovation the end of October. Love this place in Summer! Pics are of sunrise at the beach. They have the sandbar which is out back and then 2 other restaurants you can walk to. A spa, which is pretty nice and then the indoor heated pool:) The resort offers bikes and water sports as well.

Firstly, the signage for the spa was ALMOST non-existent. We were unsure if the parking area was for staff or guests, after going to the resort trying to find the spa. We went for the spa services & had been assured there would be enough technicians to provide the services we had made reservations for, a month in advance. There were only 3 technicians to care for 5 of us, one of which was almost 30 minutes late. We were given the impression the technician we 'started' with would provide the pedi & mani service...this didn't happen. The 'spa' experience went from fair to absolutely awful when one of our party had 2 technicians 'working' to complete her mani/pedi, rushing to 'get' done, 30+ minutes after the rest of us were done. There were 2 OTHER customers 'waiting' for their spa time. When checking out the bills were not accurate & the persons dealing with us were disorganized AND for the fees your 'Spa' charge...your service aught to be STELLAR and it wasn't. Won't be returning & will tell others how disappointing our 'special' girls day was...not!

I had the best night of my life here. The staff was genuinely courteous, the views were breathtaking, fantastic bar & food. There was nothing to not love. ☀️🌊🏖️🐚💗❤️ All the other occupants were well mannered, the beach is clean and so close! The rooms are romantic, tidy, and comfortable. The bathrooms are spacious and well lit- the shower was a massive walk-in with tile and thick plate glass walls. I would recommend Sanderling to absolutely anyone!

Note: I visited the spa but did not stay at the resort. The Sanderling Spa is an unforgettable experience. From the moment you enter you are enveloped with the warmth of the design and the service of the staff. The facility is immaculate and relaxing in ways I have not experienced at other spas. The robes are luxurious and amenities are plentiful. Everything from razors to combs to makeup removing wipes can be found in the women's changing area. There are multiple places to relax while you wait for services including some rocking chairs outside that face the water. Spa water can be found in multiple places but the solarium is where you can find snacks like smart pop and coffee/tea at no additional charge. I received a massage with brown sugar scrub from Cathy. She is a little ball of sunlight and tremendously skilled. She was such a thoughtful masseuse. I felt cared for and like I could really relax on her warm presence. It's one of the best massages I've had in my life. Vivianne did my facial. She was so soothing and my skin felt amazing afterwards. I would go back for so many reasons but especially for Cathy and Vivianne. Thank you for an exceptional experience.
