Excellent place to bike ride, walk while appreciating grid lock bumper to bumper traffic on 60
Good spot to fish and release, just make sure not to come alone and be in groups
It's a nice paved path to walk or ride a bike. Very nice view of the water. Just don't stay after dark. I've never had a problem but there are some characters after dark.
Nice bike path, right by the 605 freeway. You can actually see off the side of the freway. Beautiful scenery, and the river actually has water with lots of wildlife around. Besides the cyclist, people do ride horse's, and have seen people fishing in the creek. The bike path itself is really good, but at night is very dark. If riding at night, make sure to bring good bright lights.
It's a cold dark scary world we live in with witches doing their craft at night so close to home!! Spooky stuff!
Unfortunately the river and river bed are very polluted. From the bike trail it looks very scenic but when you hike down to the water things get quite bad. There is trash everywhere and there was even an abandoned car on the opposite bank that looked like it had been there a long time. It was partially submerged. The location has so much potential, but sadly it has been abused.
I worked as a temp employee there and its a fascinating water reclamation facility where it runs 24-7 non stop and, the only reason it did not get a 5 star and should have gave it a 1 star just because the security there is one of the worst and laziest not to mention ignorant and thoughtless! i know now to never ask for help with calling police or contacting there own security post to lookout and stop a disturbed temp employee that just finished breaking my windows with rocks that missed my head within an inch that would had put me in the hospital with a concussion,,, when there daily shift is over. To anyone who may or may not make sence to, basically there security is pathetic.
Cycling into San Gabriel river bike path,I briefly stopped @ the rest stop @ Thienes & San Jose Creek & watched a horse dance in front of me.there is a couple of benches to rest, also a couple of trash cans,,but full.. needs a little maintenance..other wise the view was nice..

This trail offers free parking, restrooms are nearby. There are benches around to sit and relax. You can hear the birds and I also saw a wild rabbit. There is a section where you can bike ride along the river. Very enjoyable.
