Do not stay here! The room smells like mildew! So does the AC when you turn it on. The built in headboard was dusty, the toilet seat lid came off, the shower was super moldy and the very worst part BED BUGS! Then the guy(owner I think) says maybe you brought them in with you! Never again. The lady at the desk is very nice.
San Augustine Inn was a great choice—clean rooms and a peaceful atmosphere made for a very restful stay. Highly recommend!
Very nice basic hotel. And with a guest laundry on site! I have no idea why people like to complain so much.
Clean quiet and safe. I was wary of the hotel because of the reviews but I had zero complaints. The front desk guy (sorry don't know his name but he looks like a hipster) was awesome. The only minor complaints I have is that the shower/bathtub didn't have a bathmat and I had to use a washcloth to plug the tub to take a bath. If you need a very reasonable priced room where you don't have to worry about getting killed in the parking lot (see my review of The Kilgore Inn) and want to stay in a quiet place that's located close to everything this is the place.
Pretty Central to town nice views nice rooms and amazing staff
Checked in after a long day of genealogy research of cemetery’s and the local library which was fantastic staff. Room was full of flies, the front desk gal brought me a swatter, stop counting after 21 flies. The window sill had at least 10 non responsive ones there. The bathroom was clean, 2 thin towels, clean but dingy looking wash clothes. The room needed a good sweeping and mopping, there was a chicken bone under the desk, some clump of something sticky on the night stand and roaches in the bathroom when I got up in the middle of the night. There was a recliner with a cover that needed washed or replaced, I didn’t sit in it. I was glad I put all my belongings on the desk. Thankful the bed was comfortable and clean, I pulled everything back to inspect, maybe I just caught the housekeeper on a bad day, no idea but thinking back I should have asked for another room and the front desk gal should have known better and rented me a room up to standards. The price was comparable to any other in town, I’ll stay elsewhere when I go back. Community is rich in history, it’s why I was there.
Older budget ($67) motel with 2 levels of exterior opening rooms. All appeared freshly painted even inside rooms. Everything worked (AC, microwave mini fridge, etc). No coffee pot. AC blew cold keeping the 100 degree weather away. Big comfy bed. Plenty of pillows but bit on flat side. Very clean tile floor that socks stayed white! Only issue was lack of decent shower towels. The wash & hand towels were fluffy & white but body towels were a different thin brand. Only 2 of these dingy threadbare towels provided. Quiet even around 6pm when big oil field crew came in & proceeded to bbq in parking lot. The working men were not rowdy & room was sufficiently soundproofed to allow quiet sleep. 1st time in town & would definitely stay again.
This is a good hotel, in San Augustine. The front desk workers are friendly, and the rooms are clean. It's an older hotel, with a cage of adorable birds and an elderly "hotel cat"! The pool is not usable this summer. However, the price of rooms is affordable. A lot of railroad and oilfield workers stay at the hotel.
