Samuel Myers Park - Bird watching area in Racine - 1 11th St, USA

Nice beach area with ample parking. Unfortunately there was some type of algae bloom so I didn't get my feet wet. Beautiful views from the top of the rocks.

Gotta say I'm impressed by the beauty of this location. You can see right through the water it's so clear. It's a lot warmer than the South Shore Beach and has an isolated feel to it. I'm not familiar with the history of this space but I can tell it was once a project. The steps to get down aren't the safest or it would get 5 stars. If a group got together to clean up the degree and fix the steps, I really believe this spot would be booming with life! Also great place to catch minnows for fishing.

I'm from Michigan and traveled to Wisconsin to look at a few job sites and noticed I was near Lake Michigan, so I took a trip near the shore and yupp it looks the same from the Michigan side...lol Still beautiful whichever side your on...

Nice beach. Next time we visit, I'll bring a garbage bag to pick up litter. There is a well built mobility ramp for beach access.

It's private, and there is quite a long distance of shallows with nice sandy bottom, but it is filthy and smells horrible!!! I took my kids yesterday, and there were red signs up saying do not swim. So before we went any further, I looked why it was closed. Omg!!! Closed for fecal bacteria in the water. The health department needs to do better, our water is getting out of hand!

Quiet, the beach part needs some TLC, but all was well! Nice scenery. Good vibes...

Racine has turned what was once just an old mucky forgotten Lake Michigan beach front into a wonderful established wetland. This is on the inside of the South breakwater so it's protected from the lake. They added a boardwalk through the area with benches for viewing and informative plaques along the way. It's a very lovely place to walk through as well just sit on one of the benches and take it all in. Racine also erected a large pavilion/ gazebo above the wetland area in Myers Park. There is a Butterfly Garden planted next to it with information on Monarch Butterflies posted on a plaque there. Myers Park is a lovely little park with trees planted in memory of loved ones along with pretty evergreens overlooking the wetland trail and Lake Michigan's calmer breakwater. There are a couple of paths through the park, one leading from the gazebo to the parking area. Another leads from the parking lot to the stairs leading down to the wetland boardwalk. For people who don't know, this is the small park just South of Gateway, down the hill on Pershing Blvd.
