Sam's Southern Eatery (Nacogdoches) - Restaurant in Nacogdoches - 1220 North St, USA

Our playoff football game this week took us to Nacogdoches and we tried Sam's Southern Eatery. We told our waitress that we were headed to a game so she took our drink and food order and told us she would put the food order in and then bring us our drinks so we could get to the stadium in plenty of time. SO thoughtful! Our food was all hot and fresh. We were all in the mood for shrimp 🍤 Popcorn shrimp and 8 piece shrimp. My youngest Loved the green beans! I Loved the batter of the fried shrimp. It's a seasoned cornmeal type and that's my favorite! They also offered grilled version which I would like to try as well. The dipping sauce was a favorite of everyone at the table!! I would definitely recommend!

Perfect Perfect Perfect. My second visit. I am sold. Fried fish po boy, fried okra. Even the side salad was seasoned. Red beans and rice are good also. Good prices. Laid back atmosphere. Bring your family or get it to go. It's all good !

My family and I stopped here while in town for the night. From all the positive reviews we were excited to try it. Our waitress was doing her best. She seemed the be dealing with 90% of the tables, plus phone orders and clearing tables. So she was doing great despite our experience. But the restaurant smelled like rancid grease, our food was almost cold by the time we got it, three of the orders were not correct, my husband and I got burgers because we felt it was the safest thing to order and they were definitely previously frozen patties. For the price they charge per plate, I would have expected much better. Most of the positive reviews must be from locals that eat here often because it was definitely not worth it.

We stopped in here to eat with my son before dropping him off for college! We were skeptical because it was fairly empty, but Im learning empty means nothing! The service was great, I believe the owner was an alumni and she was very nice. The sweet tea was that good ole southern sweet just how we like it! The food was good, we all ordered fried fish and shrimp and my other son ordered philly. We all enjoyed our food and the service. We will be back for sure. Prices are reasonable as well!

We were looking for something different and found Sam's. We were really glad we did. Tried a bit of everything. Fish, Shrimp, crab cakes, hushpuppies, beans and rice, green beans, fries, fried mushrooms and pickles. The food was all delicious and the portions were large. Also, the best remoulade sauce I have had in East Texas. Really great place!

Came in for a Door Dash order today (10•11•22) Samantha with the reddish orange auburn colored hair, very sweet and very helpful. She definitely needs a raise or at least deserves a better job where she is well respected. However, the girl with the short dark brown or blackish color hair and glasses, extremely RUDE!!! She just looked at me, no smile, she didn't greet me, & she had an attitude when she spoke to me about the order. She is extremely rude to her other employee. She needs to be fired. Samantha was extremely helpful with all the customers, I could hear her as I was waiting on the food for at least 30 minutes. Which is unacceptable for a Door Dash order. And Samantha was doing it all alone. This was my first time in here. The rude girl said the order never got put in, which she didnt even say to me until after I had already been waiting 15 minutes. Samantha has been super busy the entire time I been here, back and forth to customers, ripping & running. Roll the cameras back if you don't believe me.

Excellent food excellent service 👍 I noticed Rylynn was very attentive to all the customers not just the tables she had. I was a waitress in the passed & also was a owner of a beach bar / restaurant. So I understand how a waitress who’s attentive to all the customers is a jewel for a restaurant & bar owner. I’m sure the owner of Sam’s is glad to have Rylynn as part of the team.

Food was decent. The server wasn’t very educated on the menu. We had an item on our ticket that we didn’t like and immediately sent it back. It was never removed from the ticket and still charged me for it. They claimed there was “nothing that they can do” because the ticket was already closed. I’ve served for a few years, you can always re-open a ticket. The “owner” never came out and talked to us. No manager came out to address the issue. Instead they all hung out on the side, laughed and talked loudly with their friends that work next door. A lot of loud inappropriate conversations about people being as dumb as a rock? I won’t be back.
