Waitress was super awesome and the crab salad sandwich was fantastic. Dont remember which salad it was but the dressing ruined the whole salad it was so sour i WISH i remember but literally everything else is great. Salad is in the picture. The fruit shortcake is also great
We went here for brunch and it was our first visit and ordered their sweet potato and veggie burger, their soup of the day (chicken noodle soup), saffron chicken, and lobster crab salad sandwich that came with a side. The food were okay and nothing spectacular, the service was so slow but no many people sit inside. We notice several tables outside occupied. The inside was clean and pretty decent. I think this place was famous for their bakery because they have so many sweet and cakes. The thing that annoying was that they charged our credit card extra $5. I noticed that because what I have on my receipt was not the same with my bank charged and I noticed that a week after we ate there. Mind you, with slow service and just okay food we still give her 20% tips. I called the place a week after and someone said he will talk to the manager but no one called back. I called again the next week and the manager didn't seem care and finally talk to the server that served us and the whole thing was so weird. She apologize only after I mentioned it and she said it was an accident and she was very slammed that day and will give the $5 back. I understand if she was busy etc but the whole conversation about this extra charge was weird! Ya'll make sure to check your bank charges to make sure it matches your receipt. I WONT be back at this place for sure! Costumer service is still a big deal in restaurant business!
Not a great lunch experience. The service was mediocre at best, had to chase down for every little thing, didn't check back in or bring basic needs without being asked (straws, coffee set up, s&p, napkins, boxes). Food was really disappointing. It's much easier to deal with subpar service if the food is good but that just wasn't the case. Croissant was not flaky (it didn't look properly laminated), the dough was thick and didn't taste fresh, fries were served cold, chicken salad was mehh, tomato cucumber salad was really old and the veggies were limp and it needed to be thrown out days ago. Either make your salad fresh every day or chop your vegetables larger than a small dice. Pita tasted a bit old also and the plate was soaking wet from the old cucumber salad which made the pita soggy. Perhaps putting the leeching salad in a small bowl would be a good idea. The eggplant and hummus were tasty at least. I was having difficulty believing the menu where it stated using all local produce and organic meats considering the quality of the food we received. The outdoor seating area was cute though and it was a nice day outside, however, the patio would not be enough reason to return.
I passed Saffron while driving downtown on East Bay and usually don't stop but the weather was so beautiful I decided to see if they had outdoor seating (they do, and parking). It's got a funky interior that felt more like a restaurant than a coffeeshop, so I wonder if they do dinners there after bakery hours end. The croissant was huge and very dense. Definitely filling and quite tasty. Since it was chilly I got it warmed up! Love some chocolatey goodness. The latte was just like any other latte, it was half caff but still kept me up all day. Honestly really good prices for being so close to down town too. Will be back!
Chef's kiss good! I've been going here since I was a kid tagging along with parents and it's still consistently good. I'm glad to see they survived the pandemic. Today, stopped in after visiting the aquarium. Ordered lobster and shrimp salad sandwich in lobster roll-- delicious! Turtle cheesecake and cookies to-go. There are so many desserts to choose from that all look divine. Hard to pick! Also got iced coffee with hazelnut. Not cheap but worth the price for quality, taste and consistency 👌🏾.
Loved it here! Stumbled upon it because the library was closed. Nice atmosphere, LOTS of yummy options, wifi, charging ports, great food, excited to see vegan options! Very nice staff. Thank you!!!
Good service and good food! We had omelettes and an egg and cheese biscuit. All delicious! We also enjoyed our iced lattes! They have an awesome array of beautiful desserts as well.
I had the Saffron appetizer sampler plate ( I forget the exact name but I will include a picture) it was so good and perfect if you want to try everything. It had falafel, pitas, dolmas, salad, hummus, feta and olives. My husband had beef kabobs which he loved and we got 5 pastries which were all amazing except the baklava had a weird taste like the syrup wasn’t honey or it had lemon in it or something. My mom had a vegan plate with saffron rice and tofu and said her tofu wasn’t marinated or seasoned at all (which if you’re vegan that’s a major thing since it’s your main protein). All and all I loved this place and will definitely be back to try lots of other things!
