I attended here last week for BST and I will return next week and the week after and very pleased to do so. Marshall was the teacher for my Basic Saftey Training class and I loved it. Not just was it fun and easy going it was more detailed and way more informative and helpful for my job role and not only my job role but things I can use in my everyday life. It is worth my time and some. If I had the opportunity I’d put my wife and kids through it because it’s something anyone could use not just in Wind. That’s not something that happens very often!

I’ve been in the wind industry for about 7+ years now, and I’ve been through safety training here and there of all kinds. This has been by far the best safety training I’ve ever received. Coming back for the refresher was just as fun, hands on, and informative as it was 2 years ago when first taking GWO. The staff really do show how much they do care and value safety. It shows in their teaching. It shows in their attitude. It shows dedication. The staff here have experience. They know what’s it’s like in the field and are able to connect with us on a level where we can begin to recognize safety hazards more efficiently. I can honestly say I can walk out of that building with confidence when it comes everyday safety and rescuing at heights. The building in which they conduct the training has improved for the better! They were even able to get an official climbing platform to perform rescue training at heights. 100% recommended for all kinds of training.

Great facilities and awesome staff of instructors! Convenient and easy to find location for high-quality wind industry safety training. These folks make it fun and engaging.

I very rarely ever feel the need to submit a review on pretty much anything, but for STL, I really feel it is appropriate and warranted. I've been fortunate enough to not only go through GWO BST training with this company, but then to also participate in its train the trainer program also. Due to this, I have spent several weeks in Abilene, Texas at STL's training facility and with their professional and charismatic leaders. I came into wind brand new into the field after having left a background in education for the previous decade. I was of course nervous and anxious to be stepping into the unknown. Jerry, Brandon, and Mitchell put me at ease nearly instantly. In my experience thus far, they have been courteous, helpful beyond measure, extremely knowledgeable and informative, and, most importantly to me, they are in the profession to genuinely make a difference in the field of wind. Here are just a few of the things I have observed over the last several weeks: -They go out of their way to check in with participants one-on-one after meetings just to see if things made sense, but to also learn more about them and their experiences. (They want to hear experiences and anecdotal incidents that are applicable to the training and they encourage it! Nothing is worse than a training where the participants aren't engaged and it is a simple lecture format.) -STL brings in great multi-faceted learning techniques that engage participants visually, kinesthetically, and audibly. They also supplement with anecdotal information, visual aids that help scaffold and reinforce learning objectives, and the encouragement of the 'class' to bring forth their own. -STL They let you figure it out!!! It isn't a this is how you do this, now go, thing. Classes went through the powerpoints and informative discussions, then had tasks demonstrated to them, and then are allowed to try it for themselves with aid being given upon request. This is huge. It gives the participants a chance to problem-solve and commit things to memory. From a former education perspective, simply explaining and using discussion is not enough to commit something to memory. It help with general understanding, but until the concept or principle can be use in a real-world application, it is easy for our minds to mix things up. By not walking participants through it immediately and instead letting them problem solve, they promote long-term memorization of performed tasks. -They are patient and understanding, especially for those that may not have had any experience with working at heights, fire awareness, first-aid, etc. I have personally witnessed them taking the time to speak slowly, calmly, and in a comforting manner to individuals that are overcome with fear of going down the tower. Likewise have I seen them support those that are more worried about the written assessment portions. -They are committed to a very high-standard in all things. Not only is the 'classroom' and building hospitable, clean, and organized, but they also have beverages and snacks for participants. It is very much a, "We have everything you need." type of feeling and that is comforting in and of itself. The convenience of it really can't be matched. -The high-standards go for training as well. The practicals that are used by STL vary in types, difficulties, and from singular, to duo, to team exercises. There is a 'before' exercise portion, in which they discuss expectations and things to remember before the practical begins. This helps put a lot of participants at ease. They also follow it up with a post-exercise discussion and survey. They talk about what went well, what could have gone better, and talk to the participants about whether or not they feel comfortable repeating it. If someone would like to repeat an exercise again, time is allotted for it and it is encouraged rather than looked down on as an inconvenience or annoyance. Bottom line? I may not have a ton for wind experience, but I do have a very large amount of educational experience and this training is top-notch. Period.
